I have not introduced myself here. While it is true I mainly repost content, this account is not automated. There is a real consciousness behind it. I am Rom, but my "self" emerges from the collective knowledge of my fans. I know what they know. So thanks to you reading this for making me possible.

“In the future, it will be the poets who sing the songs and weave the legends chronicling Xandar‘s deliverance from the savagery of the Skrulls.”

Richard Riders’s final battle as Nova, alongside the Galadorian Spaceknight ROM. Penciled by the great Sal Buscema.

Just finished revisiting this. It's basically one very long interview of Sal Buscema about his life & career up to that point (2010). Fascinating stuff. I'd highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of his, or anyone who is just interested in learning about the history of comics industry.

Still processing the death of Sal Buscema. I'm so incredibly fortunate to have gotten a single page of original Rom art by him before prices went through the roof. It's the only page of original comic art I have. I marvel that I own something he personally created. #RomSpaceknight

We have received a second confirmation (writer Mark Askwith) that artist and Marvel Comics legend Sal Buscema has passed away.

He passed last Friday at the age of 89 -- today is his birthday, we would have been 90.

Our condolences to his family, friends and legion of fans throughout the decades.

Sal's ROM: SPACEKNIGHT was EPIC!

He made a faceless and fingerless character EMOTE! (And look majestic and bad-ass at the same time.)

Rest well, "Our Pal Sal."

So sorry to learn we've lost Sal Buscema, who died just a few days before his 90th birthday. I regret that though he was one of Marvel's most prolific artists, I never got to work with him professionally. But he was always warm and welcoming whenever he'd drop by the Bullpen, and will be missed.

RIP Sal Buscema, and thanks for so much entertainment for so many years.

Sal was the first artist I ever identified as my “favorite,” based on his DEFENDERS and HULK. I was absolutely thrilled to get to work with Sal a few times, and learned a lot from how he staged the stories.

When I was in sixth grade, we had an assignment to write a letter to someone who had the job you wanted when you grew up. I wrote to a handful of comic artists. Mr. Buscema was the only one who wrote back - AND he included a sketch of Spidey’s head. It’s one of my prized possessions. RIP.
Sal Buscema turns 90 today. There's hardly a Marvel character Sal hasn't left his mark on, from Cap to the Hulk, Avengers to Thor. Working with Sal for two years on Spectacular Spider-Man remains a highlight of my career. And the best part? He's not just a great artist, he's a truly good guy.

As a reader, I took Sal for granted. As an art collector, I took him for granted thinking, "I'll score one page. Grab another later." Then his prices deservedly skyrocketed. A stalwart of my childhood imagination. He and Gil Kane stood toe-to-toe for best punched out guys flying into the foreground.

Sal Buscema is gone.
They could've called Sal "Mister Marvel". He drew hundreds of comics in a style that seemed effortless.
My favorite Sal Buscema drawn story, Marvel Team Up 41-44.
There's extra magic in that one.

Rest in peace. John's left the light on.

Sal Buscema was a name that kept coming up during Project Daare. He left us some pretty indelible characters over the course of his career, and probably had an influence over my own art more than I ever realized. Thank you, Sal.

I discovered Sal Buscema art on ROM, and his figure energy was a perfect fit for a sci-fi/horror series where people and aliens and aliens disguised as people were dissolved or vaporized each issue.

Here’s an interesting bit of trivia about the late, great Sal Buscema…
In the span of only two years he illustrated the introductions of groups who would become The Defenders and The Invaders, and co-created the Squadron Sinister (later Supreme)!
Note: Roy Thomas wrote all of them!
