If they said 3,000 agents were leaving MN today, I would not fully rejoice. Because those 3,000 would be headed elsewhere.

I don’t want them kidnapping ANYONE. I don’t want them breaking up ANY families.

I don’t want those 700 headed off to destroy other families!

Abolish ICE is the floor.

Well, that’s my Super Bowl dinner plan sorted!

“People (were) saying that Minnesota Somalis are as Minnesotan as tater-tot hotdish,”

I just read this in a Joyce Vance essay, and it gave me an idea: Misor-Wat-Tot-Dish! Or your favorite sambusa filling, with some mild cheese, Monterey Jack or mozzarella probably, mixed in, topped with tots!

Same across the river...
Driving around #Minneapolis today, doing our thing, and had a brief moment of panic when I saw traffic stopped up ahead. “Oh fuck, what fresh hell is this? Is this ICE?”

Nope. Just a huge herd of Longfellow turkeys not giving a single fuck about making everyone wait as they amble down the street.

If you were wondering it takes about 2.5 hours to brown 4 quarts of mirepoix and 11 pounds of lamb. Getting close now.

Nothing has changed!
People are still being profiled.
People are still being wrongfully detained.
People still can’t go to work or school out of fear.

Do not look away and do not buy any political spin coming out of DHS.

ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA.

Nothing has changed!
Predicting that this week we’ll hear more conciliatory words from the Administration regarding Minnesota (since they’re starting to realize that ICE has become politically toxic) but everyone outside of Minnesota needs to know that nothing on the ground has changed.

My chef daughter is cooking 11 pounds of lamb worth of lamb bolognese in her new 24 quart rondo. At my house. Like you do.

Abolish, then prosecute and convict all employees guilty of assault and human rights/due process violations. The eliminate DHS. Also border control.
Abolish ICE.

There’s no reforming it.

There’s no compromise.

There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.

The only people I know who DID work were medical, self employed, or work in supporting fields like low income housing development.
That means ~815k Minnesotans participated in the shutdown and ~310k in the strike. That would make Minnesota’s January 23 general strike one of the largest in history.
A new poll finds that 1 in 4 Minnesota voters took part in the Jan 23 shutdown against ICE, or have a loved one who did. Of those, 38% DID NOT WORK, either because they made the choice to stay out, or their workplaces closed. By me, @thomasbirm.bsky.social, @bloomekatz.bsky.social

My husband just explained the fastest way to get rental assistance is to receive a 30day eviction notice. If you bring that to the county they have rental assistance money, and most landlords locally will waive late fees and create a payment plan to help tenants catch up on past due rent. 1/

I don't think local PD yet understand that community groups are going to step in where they are retreating, and local PD are going to basically lose the public. Towns will rightly wonder what their taxpayer $ is going to and look to other scenarios for community protection.

We would have less crime, literally, if we deported the CBP officers and kept immigrants.

This shocks me zero since police seize more dollar values of assets through civil forfeiture than robbers steal in America.

Deport the police.
Some jawdropping CBP crime statistics here...

I’ve drive like maniacs. It’s as bad as during lockdowns. They’re constantly running red lights to turn onto Hiawatha and then gunning it back to Whipple. And that’s just me running errands in the neighborhood.
In the south side of Minneapolis, community members have started setting up filter blockades- which are make shift roundabouts. The intent is to slow down the erratic ICE driving behavior among other things. Full report to come on @statuscoupnews.bsky.social

Not enough has been talked about the ICE agents showing up in neighborhoods when they identify an observer and just parking in front of their fucking houses for hours or following them to their places of employment.

What immigration action is that exactly? Or is it just to terrorize.....

Many great songs here of many genres. The very last performer mentioned my dad in his intro and now I’m weeping. Have a listen.
“It’s ok to judge and have some hate for people / if you base it on their ethics and not their ethnicity.”

My Tot-dish is in the oven, I’ll report back, but there were Serrano chilis involved and I must of touched my nose. I’m a little worried about the spice levels now! My nose! It’s burning!

I’m making a bastard child of taco hot-dish, chili-Mac, and tater tot hot-dish for dinner. Wish me luck.

Courage is being scared but doing it anyway.
Working in government I learned that 99.99% of compliance is people thinking it’s the right thing to do or being afraid to break the law. Here, the government is threatening to prosecute masses of people for 100% lawful acts, but can only harass a teeny tiny fraction. So do it and don’t be scared!
Let me reiterate: THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH GUYS TO PERSECUTE LARGE NUMBERS OF DISSENTERS. What they are doing, instead, is using fear and paranoia as a force multiplier: they don’t have to persecute us if we keep ourselves home because someone told us we can’t walk in public without being terrified.

Thank you so much for bringing this up because there has been almost no media coverage or necessary emphasis added to the fact that ice is now just releasing people into the cold like you said to die of exposure.

If anyone is wondering why legal observers are filming, it’s because the federal agents have been told they only have to be legal, ethical, or moral if they’re on camera, otherwise they can do what they want.
