We are winning, but the ethnic cleansing is continuing. We need to stay locked in and protect our neighbors.
The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

Also prosecutions.
Okay, but still no funding for DHS. It is essential to keep pushing. Otherwise this just comes back.

One of the first lessons I learned in organizing is that you celebrate victories as they come, even if they’re incomplete. Border Patrol being pulled off our streets is a massive victory for and by the people of Minnesota. It doesn’t make our work less urgent or needed, but it’s a big-ass win.

Hey all, if you're like me, you've probably been wondering how you can help people in Minnesota. A reached out to some friends and they recommended giving money to either the Immigrant Law Center or any of the mutual aid orgs listed on Stand With Minnesota. I'll be giving to both. Links below

Abolish ICE is not enough.

Stern words for Greg Bovino or Kristi Noem is not enough.

We need prosecutions and trials.

Anything short of this position fails to address the gravity of this moment.

This statement seeming anything other than incoherent is an indictment of our political culture.
Tim Walz: "We're no longer having a political debate. We're having a moral debate."

Tim Walz: "What side do you want to be on? The side of an all-powerful federal government that can kill, injure, menace, and kidnap its citizens off the streets, or the side of a nurse at the VA hospital who died bearing witness - the side of a mother whose last words were 'I'm not mad at you.'"

There isn't a perfect playbook for defeating authoritarianism, but we know from other countries that democratic resurgence is possible. I wrote for @slate.com about some of what we're seeing in Minnesota and why I believe, even now, that we will win.

ICE took the flower man in Echo Park 40 minutes ago. He’s at this corner every day. I’ve bought flowers from the man and woman here for anniversaries and birthdays. Lemmy loves to smell them whenever we walk by in the mornings. I was just at the street corner 15 minutes before it happened. Fuck.

This is an execution.

At least 7 ICE agents versus one man on the ground. They pistol whip the man on the ground multiple times before shooting him once, pausing, and then shooting him multiple times in quick succession.

2 executions in 17 days.
This video on Reddit shows ICE agents in Minneapolis in the process of detaining a man who is struggling with them. Suddenly, one agent fires their gun, and then other agents repeatedly unload bullets into the body which becomes motionless. This is horrific to watch.

The US has an opposition party that does not act like one. If reining in lawless, masked men and keeping them from snatching our neighbors off the streets isn't a reason to work together to block funding for this enterprise, then what sort of democracy are you defending?
The House narrowly passed $1.2 trillion in government funding Thursday, overcoming intense Democratic opposition to funding ICE as the agency surges operations in Minneapolis and other cities.

The 5-year-old arrested by ICE In Minnesota is detained at Dilley. We reported on conditions there in the below article.

Parents said the food was contaminated with mold and worms & that children were so under so much stress that they were hitting their own faces & wetting themselves.
Analysis by The Marshall Project of ICE data obtained by the Deportation Data Project found that the Trump administration’s revival of family detention has swept thousands of children into ICE custody. At least 3,800 children under 18, including 20 infants, have been booked since Trump took office.
