Let me introduce myself. I'm a professor @usask.bsky.social at the University of Saskatchewan. My group works on invasive wild pigs, caribou, wolves, and other beasties. I take the responsibility of my academic freedom very seriously and use it and good science to hopefully have some influence.

One of the nicest gifts my students have ever given me. Means the world to me.

I think all weekends should be 3 days long:

- one day for chores and grown-up responsibilities

- one day for social things

- a third day to recover from the other two

I will not be taking questions at this time.

We had a cow in our dairy barn that used her tongue to flip the fire alarm when she got bored at 3 am.

I have been very lucky to see some insane aurora in the arctic in my life.

Yeah looks like Saskatoon is in the same boat.

awww booo

If you are pretty much anywhere in Canada and the sky is clear tonight this could be a GREAT time for northern lights.

No biggy...just total ecosystem collapse.

I bought a dog from the local blacksmith.

As soon as I got him home he made a bolt for the door.

Malcom Ramsey a polar bear scientist said to think like a polar bear - they only catch a seal once in every 12 tries and they are fat and happy. So if you can get 1 out 12 it is 'enough'!

Countdown to Hawaii is on!

Only about 10-12 years until I can afford to go.

This university is not taking the damage the insolvency did to us, and the contract that was imposed on us., seriously. I am thoroughly behind this strike.

Pew Research Institute (2023):

And yet only Minnesota is being occupied by masked thugs over "immigration."

It's *not* about immigration.

Someone said, think about what should have been done in 1930's Germany when the nazis were starting their insanity and then do it now because the parallels are obvious. Hard agree on that one. Waltz is standing up to the insanity. I hope things don't explode but doing nothing is NOT AN OPTION>

Yep. I went home with a very large box of chicken strips for $24 instead.

Obviously $62 for a small roast is perfectly fine. We used to eat beef at least once per week in the good old days.

Poilievre wouldn't even know about it, you know since he has no security clearance. He would hear about it on the radio.

Hah yep. I still have two blackberries in my office desk. You know just in case.

How long is the right amount of time to hold onto your iPhone box it came in? Is it four years?

Scotia Bank is dogshit.

We used to joke about all of the students having six grandmothers die in one term but turns out a lot of those cases are people in real trouble and it was easier to say grandma passed when they couldn't get out of bed for physical or mental health reasons.
