This is DEFCON 1 priority, y'all. Call your senators, reps, call your friends and tell them to call their senators and reps about this. Call your grandma and tell her to call her senators and reps about this.

What we have here will be *gone* if these bills pass.
Congress is attempting to fast track KOSA and more than a dozen bills that would restrict internet access, censor speech and increase surveillance under the guise of protecting children.

Committee hearings begin tomorrow.
Lawmakers to consider 19 bills for childproofing the internet
KOSA is back, along with more than a dozen other bills that will erode free speech and privacy in the name of protecting kids.

This right here.
It be people who have never applied for a single government service bemoaning the idea of people "who don't need it," getting access to it. And like, that is not a problem we have. Our problem is that these systems are so Byzantine that many people who need them cannot access them.
I’m trying very hard to be measured about this conversation but I am so, so frustrated with the idea that accommodations are easy to get and enforce. They are not, and every parent of a disabled child spends an extremely considerable amount of time getting them and then making sure they’re enforced

I'm diametrically opposed to and repelled by marketing, so I painfully share that if anyone wants to give any of my few published crochet/Tunisian crochet patterns a shot, they're on sale on Etsy, and there's friendly and responsive live support available on Bluesky (namely me) 🧶

I have 2 of the non-sweary* tees ("Powered By Spite" and "Could You Not") and they are super fun to wear and also quite comfy.

*(Being a kids' librarian in a small town means running into smol patrons all the damn time, sigh.)
Don't be the kind of complete fucking turnip that misses out of the biggest Threadless sale of the year. All regular tees are $12! All regular mugs are $10! Up to 40% off everything else!

I really need to rename my chocolate chai.

Any thoughts?

If they want to slow down the Trump administration, Democrats should begin promising this *now*
We're gonna need a truth and reconciliation commission and Nuremberg style trials to reckon with all of this evil, and any Dem candidate for office who shies away from a full reckoning in the name of "moving forward as a nation" can get well and truly fucked
I feel much safer today knowing that we deported a Babson College student back to a country where she hasn't lived since childhood.

She wasn't even flying internationally. She was flying to Texas.

One of those "someone wants me to know I'm loved" sorts of mail arrived yesterday, and it turned out to be a day where that level bright spot was sorely needed.

Some quick investigation on Psychopomp's site yesterday showed that they still have a *lot* of inventory for sale. This might be the perfect time to pick up some holiday gifts for people and help out a small business.

The reason I mentioned this, though I felt too weird about it to say so yesterday is that if you subscribe before I get around to this you will get current prices with a slow monthly increase next year.
Sometime in the next few days I am finally going to get around to dealing with the price changes required to the Tea of the Month Club - due to the increase in the cost of shipping.

This book on Sofia Parnok has made me realize I have to read something on Russian mysticism of the late 19th century (beyond basic Theosophy and Khlysty stuff in the background) and probably about Eastern Orthodoxy as well. Uh. Got any nonfiction book recs?
