Old bi/ace white cis woman (she/her). Childrens Librarian (public). Tired. Sweary. Wear a fucking mask. Alt-text your pictures.

End OTW Racism. No more Nazis. AI & LLMs are terrible. Get out of here with that shit.
So if someone was interested in a good VPN that had servers in Canada and also was free or at least didn't lock them into a long contract ... where would that person look? Hypothetically.

Western Massachusetts friends, there is a cluster of pertussis cases in the Northampton school. If you have been thinking you need a booster (many of us in our 50s do), now is the time. You don’t need to be tested to see if immunity has waned—you can just get one at CVS, etc.

A patron said "Have a great holiday!" to me as they were leaving and I replied "Thanks, I did!" which flummoxed them for a second and then they gave me a little salute and smiled. 🥔🎉

Oh, I had one of those! Except instead of being about how Elvis was a groomer, it was every time I posted that ULINE was literally run by theocracy-craving disinfo-peddling fascists and we should all stop using their services.

Think I'll post this link again! He hates it.

The spool yarn bowl is here! It comes in 3 colors and is my first ever yarn bowl with a lid! This is a much requested feature from people with curious kitties, and I do want you to know that ours have thoroughly tested it 😂🧶 #knitting #crochet

A Thing that I have noticed about my life since starting mounjaro is that my spice tolerance has decreased from "Taco Bell mild sauce is fi-i-i-ine" levels to "yikes, what's even in that?" and it's pissing me off! Such a weird side effect!

(Don't @ me, I was raised Episcopalian)

My friends, I say this with all the love in my heart: Right now might not be the moment for “But we should be TOLERANT and NUANCED about the plagiarism machines!”

Your tolerance and “nuance” will be weaponised by the grifters and their apologists. Please respect yourselves more.

People are people.

This is the most foundational moral principle. Without it, all immorality is excused when the people suffering are "not-people".

The current regime eagerly defines many groups as not-people (Gazans, immigrants, trans, &c) and would love to get women added to that legislation.
None of this is “good faith political debate,” and it’s not a coincidence that all these outlets are suddenly interested in the same “discussion” at the same time.

Treating women’s humanity like a thought exercise makes it that much easier to legislate away

Just FYI in case anyone's interested, when you put a bunch of emojis after your screen name it makes it unnecessarily challenging for people who use screen readers to read your posts and follow you. The screen reader will read out every single emoji description every time you pop up in their feed.

There are people doing the long, hard, unglamorous work of trying to shift things for the better in male sports cultures, particularly in hockey. It is a disservice to their efforts to pretend that real systemic problems can/have been solved by a six-episode TV show.

The rule should not be chosen based on who it excludes.

If the rule means that the output of an entire publishing house, which goes AI-edit forward in 2026, is excluded, the rule is functioning as intended.

The GOP, much like the DNC ten years ago, has greatly overestimated the left’s opinion and love for the Clintons.

“Bill is in the files!”

Yeah, we know. We’re completely aware. Throw him on the fuckin fire too. We’re fine with that. Just right there on the flames. Now, about those redacted areas…

I think parsing what % of a work can be based upon the unpaid nonconsensual exploitation of your members while still being eligible for industry awards is... a poor choice.

I would not pay dues to a professional organization who does not think my work is worth protecting.
Another Nebula Awards nomination cycle is in full swing, and the addition of poetry and comics, along with the presence of LLMs in industry, required careful consideration.

Read on, and vote well!

We trust our voters & look forward to what they choose to celebrate.

good thread
Imagine someone who, when they eat certain fruits, gets a tingling feeling in their throat and lips, and those areas get a little bit red and itchy.

That's an allergic reaction!

Even if they don't need to have an epi-pen, they are still allergic to those items!

A lot like the Gaza genocide, in that way.
