Maybe, but I think it breaks down in the cooking process for sure despite how similar the end product can be. Convergent is probably the closest you can get.

But the term curry is kinda a blanket term that derives itself from the Tamil word Kari, which then got applied to the spice blends that form the base of both that cooking paste and the gravy

Oh boy, it's real fucking bad. Cult and/or business all the way down lmao. But it's worth saying there is a real racial divide too. Black jesus and white jesus are two different figure with different meanings and means of worship. Black churches, historically play a dif role in the south.

All I can say is my experiences with Catholics never were like this. All of these kinda stories of mine were under the wide umbrella Bible Belt American Christianity (Methodist, evangelical, baptist).
