You see this all the time online, some originally well-based bounded criticism or point gets magnified and stripped of all that context, “some Nazis admired Jim Crow” gets turned into “the 1930s US was literally as bad Nazi Germany”, it’s so fucking dumb and it happens all the time

It’s just example # 486 of “reasonable nuanced critique of liberalism gets flattened to meaninglessness through a game of telephone”. Cogent critiques of aspects of respectability politics get turned into “it makes you a brave revolutionary to be the biggest asshole possible to everyone”

This is basically magical thinking. It is the thought process of a small, frightened child who just wants mommy to make the pain stop and is getting angry that she can't.
The issue is that this is a grown adult, not a small child, and also when the Democrats do things it's never good enough.

Doing a Stephen King readthrough, and hot take: The Tommyknockers is great. Not like, one of his absolute best, but it's delightfully batshit and a very effective cosmic horror story. Only knock against it (no pun intended) is that it's just a biiit too long.
