Because this is what this is, you cannot say this in polite company so they glom onto this performance of white working class masculinity.

The good thing about accepting that Dems lost the election because of inflation, besides being factually correct, is that the other dominant explanation is these guys taking a good look at Harris and deciding the Dems have become too female and black.
i mean i don't think you can separate any of this discussion from the fact that so many of the participants are men who clearly have hang-ups about their inability to perform a certain kind of blue collar masculinity

i think i would honestly find this whole discourse more tolerable if people simply said what they were actually saying, which is that they think the Democratic Party is too associated with femininity (and secondarily, with black people) and that they want to correct this
The biggest tell for if a leftist has completely lost the plot is if theyre still active on twitter

all I'm gonna say is that these posts are hours apart
Oh good a nice healthy round of discourse spinning up right as I start my 4 hr drive.

Yall have fun
I mean the red line is clearly "is a conventional democrat who likes the party"

People still crash out whenever Mamdani says hes a democrat.
"I just dont wanna think about this stuff anymore." Said verbatim to me at the bar last night with some less engaged friends.
We're going to see the apps making official race calls before polls close and CNN will report it uncritically
Sure but thats not the criticism you hear about it. People think that they just decided to stop because the consultant class didn't like it or something.

Its another example of Dems doing exactly what people on here say they should and nothing happening.

Wow they are doing exactly what this site is saying they are not doing

like, you can still easily go find YouTube videos of his speeches from the closing weeks of the campaign, and he drops the weird line at least a couple times *in every single speech*, but the average angry Bluesky yeller will swear up & down to your face that "Dem consultants" killed it way earlier.
Tim Walz called Republicans weird in like every campaign stop and the media stopped covering it after a week and everyone thought he stopped doing it

I think an unspoken part of the angst over Maine rn is a bunch of people wanted a Dem Tea Party moment without understanding that largely didn’t happen organically
Seems suboptimal that part of our big tent is actively rooting for the tent to collapse

UPDATE: More donors funding the demolition of the East Wing for Trump's $250M ballroom have been identified

one of the interesting thing i have seen in the platner discourse is a refusal to confront a thing on its own terms. to his pundit supporters, platner isn’t a novice candidate with perhaps questionable judgment to be evaluated on his ability to win, but a symbol to wield against rivals

Oh, you want to make a political party that only takes positions on issues that enjoy majority support in polling? Should we throw a celebration? Should we call Andrew Yang?
Like being parasocial about a guy you thought was neat is one thing but they're acting like this was an investment they had personal stake in
