a few streets had these today and they were usually in spots where ice has been known to drive by pretty frequently so this is essentially creating a citizen checkpoint to monitor for them it rocks a lot
Minneapolis is trying out new forms of resistance. They're doing pop-up blockade block parties. This one is on Cedar and 34th, a main route into the city. They have a stereo, food & a fire. MPD is present but not interfering. Lots of honks of support. ICE agents have been reported detouring around.

since the eyes of the world are currently on Minneapolis, have this street naming reference I made a few years ago

Hi everyone! We’ve been super busy delivering meals the past two weeks- the extreme cold has made this more necessary than ever. MIWRC has been operating as an emergency warning shelter for most of the month and we’ve been really fortunate to help keep hot meals available there for people in need.

5 classes I took in undergrad (all outside my major!)

1. food & the art of conversation
2. german culture through film
3. intro to meteorology
4. intro to the english language
5. sound & musical acoustics
I'm so cool that it's hard to restrict myself to just five when it comes to 5 of the fun ones but:

1. language preservation
2. linguistics field methods (a.k.a. learn guarani just by interviewing a native speaker)
3. Karelian
4. Phonology
5. Coptic
Never mind jobs you had, tell me five (or rather: five of the) classes you took at university.

1. Political Science
2. History
3. Economic History
4. Economics
5. Communications

I am just gonna say it, these guys are completely emasculated by the knowledge that they have been out-organized by a group that is significantly made up of women, and all the bullshit call of duty nonsense is cope for their wounded egos bsky.app/profile/jeet...
MAGA military geniuses are talking about Minnesota protestors like they are the Iraqi insurgency, the Taliban, and the Viet Cong all rolled into one.

To everyone outside MN who saw the Mpls mayor on TV & thought he seemed good: here’s exhibit no. 2,893 why he SUCKS
We need an EVICTION MORATORIUM NOW.

Our neighbors risk being separated from their families when they go to work. They also run the risk of being displaced if they don’t.

Sadly, Mayor Frey refused to sign the resolution calling on the Governor to enact this moratorium.

must the president of the united states be "physically capable of traveling to any part of the country given two weeks advance notice?"
President Donald Trump will not be attending Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8 in Santa Clara, Calif., he said in an interview with the New York Post.

“It’s just too far away,” he said.

if you haven't seen One Battle After Another yet, genuinely, you should watch it. It won't fix the world, but it's eerily prescient and it will make you feel fire and hope.

I keep thinking “my god the people they’ve killed seem like exceptionally good folks” and I think the lesson there is that they’re not exceptional, but that wonderful people abound and that a baseline distrust in humanity is a shitty conservative trope that privileges power over collective strength
you don't become a martyr because you were a saint, you become a saint because you were martyred
I agree that we can’t make Alex Pretti a Benedictine monk because that’s a trap, but we can talk about the good things we did because people will see and hear them and think “I do those things too”
