Megyn: The law recognizes no difference between raping an 8-year-old and raping a 15-year-old. Both victims are underage and therefore unable to provide consent. And you are an awful person for using that distinction to explain away the rape of underage girls. You wouldn't do that for Bill Clinton.

it is just a feeling i am getting
My god (sorry I’m late on a bunch of this stuff. But wow!)

According to this NYT report, the head of the FBI and the Attorney General are holding meetings *in the Situation Room* with GOP lawmakers they are trying to pressure to rescind their votes to release the Epstein info. This is madness.

The book that most changed me was THE PRINCESS BRIDE, which I discovered in my high school library a few years before the movie came out. The humor is great, of course, but it was Goldman's brilliant metafictional merging of reality and fantasy that captured me and I started devouring all his books.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

Johnson: The Republican-led Congress has been so productive, that we're happy to take a paid money off while shutting down the government, rather than compromising on anything with the Democrats who make up 49% of Congress.
Johnson: When we go into the midterms, we’re very bullish on the outcome. We have an extraordinary record to run on. The first nine months of this Congress and this administration, arguably the most productive of all time.

you can win without billionaires supporting you

you can win without party leadership endorsing you

you can win unapologetically standing with every persecuted minority pundits say are too politically toxic to touch

we could do everything about this process differently if we wanted to
Can’t stop thinking about all the robber baron fucks that held secret meetings and spent MILLIONS AND MILLIONS in bribes and campaign investments and attack ads and media manipulation trying to tank Mamdani currently having the dawning realization that their money is completely and utterly useless.

Nothing notable on my local ballot other than a School Committee race, but I got out and voted anyway. Hoping that my friends in CA, NJ, VA, PA and NYC, where there are bigger issues at stake, will get out and make good progressive choices.

2. Don't get distracted from point one

3. Present as a decent human with manageable baggage

4. Don't be old as fuck.

Go forth and do likewise

Doc [examining]: Does that hurt?
Me: Like a motherfucker.
D: Yeah, thumbs go first. You're getting old. Getting old sucks.
M: That's a hell of thing to say.
D: (looking at me quizzically): It doesn't end well, John. Didn't anybody tell you? 1/2
