There are a lot of people who just lost their fucking minds because a black man was president and they never got better

After there's a national reckoning over all their resultant malfeasance we're going to need socialized medicine so we can get all these goddamned lunatics into therapy

BARTIROMO: On your point about the Nobel Peace Prize, do you think maybe the reason Trump won't get it is because you had to get the application in before Jan. 31, and that was only 11 days into his term?

SCALISE: Look, they can play technicalities. They gave it to Obama for just getting elected.

It is a criminally absurd assertion for anyone to make the claim that corn ethanol is even remotely energy efficient, environmentally sound, or sustainable

It is a scam perpetrated by corporate lobbying firms to capture tax dollars as corporate profits

And then following fermentation, clarification, heated fractional distillation, and then chemical drying of the distillate to remove residual water, and everything that goes into that

Diminishing fossil fuel stocks and the lack of a replacement for the haber Bosch process, coupled with the fact that that the daily output of industrial waste CO2 gas released into the atmosphere by it actively harm the odds for the continued survival of the human animal
shmemistry.bsky.social
As it stands, between 1-2% of the world's energy consumption goes into the Haber-Bosch process. While most of the fertilizer made from it goes into food production, at only ca. 15% yield per cycle of the process, it's not very efficient

Wasting any thus fixed nitrogen on fuel ethanol is wasteful

Over 40% of corn grown in Indiana is used to make ethanol that cars burn. One acre of corn yields about 16,500 vehicle-miles per year of ethanol, which sounds high until you realize that one acre of solar yields about 2,700,000 vehicle-miles per year: 16,000% more driving for a given plot of land.

Without the corn subsidy, it would not make financial sense for any corporation to do this. It's a tremendous scam that's been fleecing the American public for years and needs to stop immediately
shmemistry.bsky.social
Don't forget that the Haber-Bosch process to fix nitrogen for the fertilizer needed to grow the corn itself requires a TREMENDOUS amount of fossil fuels and is highly inefficient. Making ethanol from that corn requires several additional processes, with energy provided by fossil fuels.

Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

"Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it's highly likely because they're given Tylenol. None of this is positive..."

rereading a novel from the 50s set in the 30s and i know this passage did not hit as hard when i first read it in the 90s as it does now
Photo of a passage from "The Watch That Ends the Night"

Jerome stopped and stared at me with incandescent eyes.

"Try and understand this-the fascists have brought back tor-ture, and torture calls for martyrs. And what else is fascism but the logical product of the capitalist system?"

"What do you mean—torture calls for martyrs?"

"Simply this. Unless a man is able to stand up and look the torturer in the eye and say, 'I'm not afraid,' torture becomes the way of the world. It's as simple as that."

"Is it really as simple as that?"

"No." He shook his head impatiently. "No, because underneath it all is the plain economic exploitation of a rotten world.
The communists are the only people who understand that. How can you pretend they're not one hundred percent right when they say that at a time like this the life of a single individual isn't worth a snap of the fingers? Wasn't Debs right when he said that so long as there was a soul in prison he wasn't free?

What does a single marriage count in a balance like that? It isn't easy being me. I know what all this means. [Highlighted sentence:] This evil inside the human animal-the fascists are charming it out like a cobra out of its hole and the capitalists let them do it because they think it's good for business. You think I'm abandoning Sally by leaving for Spain. I tell you, if I don't leave for Spain then I really do abandon her to a future of fascism and concentration camps."
