Thread on how to cut through the noise and talk about the right question.
The correct answer to MAGA outrage over the Dem video is this: Are you effing kidding me? Of course it's reasonable to warn that Trump might be giving illegal orders.

The evidence is strong that he actually is giving illegal orders! I went through that evidence here:

Is Trump Giving Illegal Orders? Dems Just Blew That Question Wide Open
From the boat bombings to deportations to prosecutions, the evidence mounts. And the speaker of the House could get to the bottom of it if he wanted to. Yeah, right.

Either they keep tabs on you, or their fans do it for them, and any chance they can use your name for content (money) they do it.

Just goes to show how they can easily come up with reasoning to support universal basic income when they want to. Yes, UBI is a dividend for shareholders. As citizens, we are all shareholders.

Also, we ALL created the capital that AI is trained on. We should all be paid a GDP dividend EVERY MONTH.

Its so exhausting to see the media talk about autism like this--why can't we talk about it with the complexity it deserves, instead of stigmatize the millions living with it?
What kind of journalist doesn't understand that the "shocking numbers" are simply because more people are diagnosed now??

To this regime, establishing that they can go to war in violation of the law, without participation from Congress, and without the public on board (or even trying to get the public on board) is a feature, not a bug.

Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout

This is a hugely important reform to make. Also, Democrats should stop excluding independents from primaries, by at the very least enabling anyone to register day-of at the polls, but preferably by switching to nonpartisan primaries where the top 4 or 5 from any party advance to an RCV general.
Democratic politicians and activists are quietly lobbying to upend the way the party picks its presidential nominee by urging the use of ranked-choice voting.
Scoop: Democrats eye ranked-choice voting for 2028 primaries
It's a tool that drew national attention when it propelled New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani to a decisive primary win.

It's telling that all the "stop the infighting!" replies are directed at you and not at Newsom. Why aren't embracing transphobia, giving friendly interviews to fascist podcasters, and brutalizing the unhoused considered deliberate attempts to sow division among Democrats?

Like… yeah, the team of people behind this particular figurehead is doing real damage and that's good, and good on him for hiring them, and when the target is destroyed I want all of the members of that team to start working for better people & I never want to hear from that figurehead again. 🤷🏾‍♂️

And if targeting trans people and the unhoused is somehow a "purity test" for you, then what the fuck are you actually fighting for and against?

I'm serious: If the literal things our enemies are doing are not bad enough for you to say "hey maybe this guy isn't actually on my side," then *What Is*?

Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

The other part of this is the how socialism has been conflated with communism when they are not the same thing. We have socialism in America already we just branded it differently so people weren’t scared of something that actually helps them. Social security, Medicare/medicaid, roads, bridges, etc.

This is spot-on.

The UVA "deal" might be the worst/most dangerous (so far). With the help of UVA's leadership, Trump coerced a leading U.S. university to foreswear all efforts (including 100% lawful measures) to achieve diversity.

A betrayal of our values.

The smartest people you'll ever meet are the ones who know how much they DON'T know, and these chatbots are programmed specifically to assure people that there either ISN'T anything they don't know or can't easily bypass by asking the 'bot. It's a bad recipe.
I am by no means a prominent public intellectual, but my inbox is increasingly filled with messages from people who have been convinced by sycophantic chatbots that they have discovered revolutionary theories that entirely upend our scientific understanding of the universe.

Smiling at how wrong I was to have even an inkling of doubt for Mamdani. Dude's just built different.
Genuinely curious what Mamdani's angle on this is. It must be pretty important, given what a risk he's taking. People have already pointed out he could be detained, and I don't know what would stop them if they wanted to.
