Cool how we are smuggling domestic news in over the border from canada and people having to share it on bulletproof hosting providers to stop the government and media owners taking it down

really cannot be emphasized enough that bari weiss has literally never done journalism. i don’t mean that in the pejorative sense. i mean that in the “has never performed the job she was hired to do” sense
One explanation for Bari killing the story is that she did so as a public act of fealty to the administration. But another is that, as an inexperienced journalist, she doesn’t understand that a refusal to go on the record is a kind of comment in and of itself

The person charged with enforcing the laws is an open lawbreaker, assisted by a team of open lawbreakers, backed by a Congressional majority indifferent to lawbreaking, supported by a Supreme Court that privileges them to break the law.

It has no legitimacy whatsoever.
The person charged with enforcing the laws is himself a law breaker. In such a state, do laws even have any legitimacy?

it is extremely funny that the American populace unironically treated the era of seeing of "help wanted" signs as a bad sign
I think the direction of travel matters. from 2020-22 we had a) the most generous welfare state in US history b) the tightest labor market in 60 years, and now both are gone and we are right back to ~2014 ish job market except interest rates are high

This is what they're doing lmao

thank u donnie trump for taking money the troopies were supposed to get tax free and making it subject to taxes
And then there is a third comedy option, which is that this isn't additional pay at all but rather is taking money from the reconciliation bill that was supposed to be used to plus up the BAH account (presumably to allow BAH increases in line w/higher housing costs) and doling it out in a lump sum
This is assuming they rerun the reprogramming script from the shutdown to give it a facade of legality

They could also go full mask off and just tell Treasury to redirect monies to DoD absent any appropriation or other statutory authority to do so, in which case it's officially the Cool Zone

Henry Cuellar, Don Davis, and Vicente Gonzalez joined Republicans in voting to criminalize trans health care.

The bill passed only 216 to 214.

4 Republicans voted no. If they did too, it would have failed.

Living through the OWS period when everyone was like "okay if a McDonalds charged just a little more per order we could pay $15/hr" and similar claims about food, and then the moment that started actually happening (Ag and CDL jobs with HUGE increases) people said "Fuck this, fuck you, fuck off"
It is what it is but I’m not sure how easy it’s going to do things when the majority of the electorate is just like “make it 2019 again”

one of the ways that Joe Manchin was very damaging to the Dem party as a whole was the way he'd go on television all the time to talk about how the rest of his party sucked

nobody should ever make the mistake of thinking MTG is on their side but "Republican on TV saying Republicans suck" is helpful
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I think the midterms are gonna be very hard for Republicans. I'm one of the people that's willing to admit the truth and say I don't see Republicans winning the midterms right now, so that doesn't bode well for Mike Johnson."

Some Dems have told themselves only ~1% of the population is trans so they can dip their toe in the anti-trans filth and come out clean.

I don't have any trans family members—but it still makes me irate. I see it as a huge red flag, a sign you are unprincipled and untrustworthy. And I'm not alone.
We are parents of a trans kid and our family takes this very, very personally. If you intentionally make life harder for our beloved daughter, it’s EXTREMELY hard to think of you as an ally, to say the least. @amyklobuchar.com - you still send us requests for money, while hurting our kid. Disgusted.
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->

Under these conditions, you don't "ease up," you don't "just focus on kitchen table issues." You hit the gas on immigration issues. Floor it. Call for the abolition of CBP, of ICE, of DHS.
If your Democratic senator or representative isn't Anti-Manhunting Leagueposting already: your mission for 2026, should you choose to accept it, is to call them up as frequently as you can and ask them why not
