Entertaining as this spat is, it contains not-a-flicker of recognition as to WHY this might be happening.

For 16 months, a tax-exile-oligarch-owned, mostly right-wing press, has abused the privilege of these exclusive private sessions, to misrepresent the gov't on every issue. This is the FO stage.

Plastic tape (eg Sellotape) isn't recyclable – and if you put tape-covered wrapping paper in the recycling bin, it can contaminate the paper recycling. Using recyclable paper tape is one solution.

“This is beautiful. The smiles! Bondi beach hero Ahmed Al-Ahmed with the doctors looking after him at the hospital in Sydney.

And…

The doctors are *also* Syrian!

Tamer Al-Kahil from Homs.
Anas Natfaji from Aleppo.

*Three* heroes.”

This is a lovely book.
I'm biased but if this Christmas you are looking for silly, warm, dark, complex novel about an antique dealer who lives with a hyper-intelligent semi-aquatic folkloric creature who loves knitting, might I recommend this?

It's quite weird and not for everyone but some people seem to think it's ok...

There was a high rate of underage pregnancies in my school - I bet not all of them will have been fully consensual. And I always suspected (but had no firm evidence) that a classmate was being molested by her father. The message “it’s not ok” in classrooms may have encouraged her to report him.

There is a causal link between conflict in Middle East & surges in UK antisemitism (CST).

We don't then say: OK, what policy would these antisemites prefer! (We should have the right policy on its merits)

If a causal link between high immig/asylum and racist slurs, similar principles should apply

A mini-story to cheer you up this morning. The other day my teenage son returned to his locked bike to find the back wheel nicked. We went back yesterday to rescue it - and found this note taped to the frame. We have the wheel again. A very happy Xmas to Ollie and his note-writing other half.

Urging Trump to destroy the BBC is unforgivable. Truss, Badenoch & Farage would rather betray this country than offer the BBC or the British government their support against a narcissistic foreign liar and a threat to democracy. It’s an appalling betrayal.

I'm getting frustrated at the failures of media to note that part of this is that Donald Trump is stupid as hell.

Donald Trump is a very stupid man and we should be explicitly saying that Donald Trump is stupid, because he isn't a normal amount of stupid - he is very, very, very stupid.

From a professional comms perspective, I'd say a good start for Labour combatting far right rhetoric would be to stop repeating it, saying they "understand it" or including its stock tropes in official documents pretty much any time they talk about migration.

Apart from the fact the leader of the right mocked Reiner, one small difference is that Reiner's day job was making movies that people loved, while Kirk's starting point was creating enemies list of professors to be fired or harassed. These are not the same things.
