And they're all on Bluesky...
There’s always 5 guys. 3000 people on the internet can read a post and understand it but always 5 guys on the same internet determined to tell you how you’re dumb, wrong, saying something they only imagined you said, or, at the very least, should have said it differently in under 300 words.

I am not a journalist. Never went to J School, but I have been known to dabble in the media.

I have retired from political coverage. The world should be kissing the asses of those still strong enough to work in journalism.

<End of tweet>
I know a lot of journalists, and I've learned that it's brutal, there's no other way to say it, respect to journalists, I honestly don't know how you do it.

It's sad to see what's going on right now and how many casualties there are in journalism, not least because we need them now more than ever.
Also, I feel like people often don't understand the reality of what being a journalist is. They often conflate it with being a rich elite, when in reality, many jobs are not well paid - and at a time when so many journalists are leaving the career behind because of all the lay-offs and uncertainty.

I mean, look at this bullshit, this is what happens when you fire journalists, and try to replace them with AI.

Who the fuck wants this as reality?

No sane person wants this, we need real people, doing real work.

We need more journalists, not less.

WB, CNN and HBO as we know them will cease to exist under this deal.

Maybe it’s time for something new to replace them.
This would be, in every way, worse than a Netflix-WB deal. No point in preserving the integrity of the theatrical experience for a company funded by a right-wing ideologue. I don't believe there's a world in which Larry Ellison funds One Battle or Sinners. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/15/b...

I miss posting stupid music polls on Twitter, which as with most things would lead to academics condemning each other over minor and overlapping differences in music taste. And yes The Cure is still better than The Smiths.

kids these days don't understand watching the same movie three dozen times, not because you like it exactly, but because it sort of meets a minimum watchability standard and it's just on cable, all the time. and that's beautiful

I didn't learn about the Tulsa Race Massacre until Watchmen in 2019.

I grew up in West Baltimore, in predominantly Black schools, surrounded by portraits of Black Civil Rights heroes and they still never taught us about it.

There's a reason for that.
