I agree that if democrats take control of the house in 2026 they should starve ICE/CBP of funding, as republicans successfully did with the IRS when they took control of the house in 2022
ICE/CBP have gone unfunded for 3 days; how about 3 years? The best way to claw back the $170 billion immigration enforcement surge in the Big Beautiful Bill is to just claw it back. The 2nd-best way is to slowly drain it by never funding the underlying appropriation. @ryanlcooper.com makes the case:
The Case for Keeping ICE and CBP Defunded - The American Prospect
Democrats should not provide one thin dime to MAGA storm troopers.

If the father of my newborn child took TEN DAYS to visit him in the NICU while he was fighting for his life I’d have changed the locks to our house by the time he got back.

If I later learned he abandoned us so he could spend time with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein I’d turn into The Joker.

Good to see that many Dem elected officials now want to be seen getting involved in the cases of immigrants who have been wrongly detained by ICE.

Let's spare a word for @vanhollen.senate.gov, who did this for Kilmar Abrego Garcia back when wise pundits said this was politically dangerous.

When all is said and done, this country needs another Moynihan Report, this time focused on the tangle of pathologies existing among white non-college rural and exurban men that led to MAGA.
What's making me really livid right now is thinking back to the years of commentary lecturing us that the rise of MAGA was rooted in a sense of righteous victimization by overbearing liberal elites, and sneering at those who insisted that it was fundamentally about domination and sadism all along.
They are telling us in unequivocal terms that if you show solidarity with immigrants who are in the literal crosshairs of Trump/MAGA, you're risking a death sentence.

Wonder if the nations of NATO are considering a boycott of the upcoming World Cup. Wouldn’t have a worthwhile competition without the Euros, and a good chance countries like Brazil and Colombia would join….
New tariff just dropped.

Americans set to pay an additional 10% tax on all goods from Germany, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.

It starts in two weeks, rising to 25% by June.

They say they will provide Californians with “rule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics, and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.”
