Players, after surviving a flood event, write Memory Zines on their experiences, covering eco-grief and sleep hygiene.

From an article last week:

"My wife and I absolutely forbid our children from reading those horrible Judy Blume books," he said. "And because we didn’t clean up our society back then, then we have to deal with absolutely horrific things today."

Yeah, THAT'S it.

If you don’t read old stuff you’ll never discover that people in the olden days had the same thoughts and feelings and dreams and anxieties you do, sometimes articulated differently, sometimes exactly the same way. You are never truly alone in anything and old writings are a neon sign telling you so
Meanwhile, on threads, which actually is like what people on twitter think bluesky is like, a "teacher, author, poet" speaks...

Science is not truth.
Science is finding the truth.

When science changes its opinion, it didn't lie to you. It learned more.

This is the kind of thing white supremacists have been doing to Emmett Till’s memorial for decades.

It’s wild to see them do this to a white woman who the entire world saw extrajudicially murdered.
Someone doused Renee Good’s Minneapolis memorial and a nearby pile of wood with gasoline and started a fire at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Damage was minimal but police are investigating.

Mamdani is restarting sweeps on encampments. He says they will be doing outreach every day of the seven day warning they get before all their belongings are destroyed. Extremely disappointing. Backtracking on too many promises has already happened.

BREAKING: The Department of Education has ended its directive that attempted to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in schools nationwide.

This is a victory for academic freedom and education equity.

What really needs to happen is better resources for parents with autistic children. Better education about the spectrum, how to aid your child to the best life they can live, and being ready for them to not be what you expected. Not some eugenics ass therapy that won’t work and will only harm kids

It surprises me how often I stun people with this writing advice, so I'll just remind you here:

You don't have to start at the beginning. It probably won't be the beginning anyway. You can write the part you can see/hear/imagine best and go from there.

In a society where everything seems to be getting worse and more expensive and more designed to isolate us and neutralize any sense of community or potential to organize that community, it’s a miracle that the library still exists AND is expanding its services to have stuff like 3D printers now.
Libraries are among the few public institutions that represent the kind of world we want to live in. They must be fought for.

My grandfather filled out a one-page form two weeks after his arrival here, raised his right hand, and was sworn in as a citizen.
The more of these fascist atrocities I see, the more I become an immigration maximalist. Let everyone in, give everyone work permits/green cards. Make it possible to get citizenship within a few months. Make it as easy as getting a driver's license.

one reset I'd personally appreciate: behind the insistence that we must offer the electorate a little bigotry is the idea that commoners are more bigoted than the richer and more educated, who can be appealed to with high minded policy. but then you Ctrl+F "phrenology" in the Epstein files
What strikes me is that 'the volk' have incredibly incoherent and everywhere ideas, but the people who claim to speak for them in the press are like clerics who think there are two poles for all politics and everything must fit between them. These poles are like, eight inches apart

I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.
