I had my first kiss during a midnight showing of The Two Towers that I went to with my church youth group on opening day.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?
Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

A film/TV manager once told me that he asked his clients to always try to take a note in the best possible faith and ask if it was secretly the most brilliant note ever given. Most times, it won't be, but turning off your kneejerk hostility will often help you find something in it worth considering.

A lot of success in writing is getting okay with receiving feedback, knowing which notes you have to take, and figuring out ways to be diplomatic about the ones you don't. Revision is one part writing skill, one part interpersonal shit.

My hottest take is that letting cops park in red zones for mundane errands and coffee breaks; I think “you can break the law at your discretion as a job perk” is the small domino that ends in the large domino of “shooting protesters in the face with rubber bullets”

If you, like me, have largely refrained from telling your not-as-online spouse about the Nuzzi/Lizza drama, I cannot recommend enough playing this sample for them and watching their expression as they try and process what it is they’re hearing.
