Playing the Riven remake, I've been re-evaluating The Witness. It's a genuinely brilliant puzzle game, served with great dollops of tedious, pseudo-intellectual wank. Riven has its shortcomings, but it's such a sincere game about wonder, family and (to a surprising degree!) the evils of colonialism.

Playing the Riven remake, I've been re-evaluating The Witness. It's a genuinely brilliant puzzle game, served with great dollops of tedious, pseudo-intellectual wank. Italian voice actor Carlo Bononi was the voice of all of the characters on Pingu. A trained clown by trade, he used a theater technique called grammelot, which consists of "speaking" in a mix of babbled gibberish noises. He improvised all the voices live and unscripted.
