If you are scoffing at people for engaging solely online ... have you offered rides to disabled people? Do you mask? Do you reach out to & visit homebound disabled people? Do you help them get mobility aids & other accessibility devices? Do you meet in accessible spaces? And on & on.

so, I don’t actually think that “address your own ableism before you become disabled” is actionable advice for most non-disabled people. I’d say instead that you should make friends with disabled people before you become disabled. like, close friends where you’re willing to help them out with stuff.

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

That's nothing new. Police are the #1 expense literally of every city in America. They collect a salary but they're not exempt from overtime. So they sit in cars doing nothing until someone calls on the radio to come stand around doing nothing together. Then they privately work off the clock.
