When people live lives always papering over facing consequences they stop facing reality

Circus babies told “no, you actually aren’t superior, no more papering over consequences for you” for the first time and they sacrificed everyone and everything

We’ve been seeing that crash out since 2020 - violent temper tantrums when bread and circus babies faced consequences for the first time they couldn’t paper over

My biggest thing about this is how do reconcile knowledge with fun?

We have been taught that we deserve a constant stream of fun, and anything that makes us feel bad is bad

What happens when you're a bread a circus baby, and now there's neither bread nor circus?

That crash out will be

As I said, after the AI crash, we’ll have to give remedial education to so many young people.

So deeply not kidding when I say that the current paradigm of "Gen AI" is doing deep, lasting harm to our ability to make knowledge, meaning, & truth w/ each other.

Like… it's really fucking us up & if we don't stop it soon we're gonna see a kind of negative chaos frankly unimaginable to most ppl 👍🏾

I am so tired of explaining to people why they shouldn't generate text or images or video with "AI", why they shouldn't share "AI"-generated content from other people, and why none of this is "inevitable".

I genuinely cannot express how vital it is that you train yourself to recognize AI-generated images and videos for your own good because none of this is going away and many, many people are counting on you to fall for their shit

It really feels like one of the purposes of AI video is to get us to a point where no video we see on social media and no photograph can be trusted or assumed to be true, and we fully enter a post-truth world.

Truth is used to fight oligarchs, so they seek to destroy truth itself.

In 2020 former loved ones said to me some form of “teachers will die, kids will get used to the deaths, I selfishly need schools to be open unsafely so my kids don’t interrupt my zoom meetings” knowing my friend was murdered saving his students in parkland. Craven cowardly cruelty has been mask off

People laugh about the frog thing, but you could see that they were legitimately freaked the fuck out by this one person, because someone that does this in front of them is not bound by norms. It was unpredictable.

You don't need to be violent. You do need to put the fear of god into them.

Some folks can't see the fascism, and so they have false optimism that causes them not to act against it.

Other folks see the fascism, and they feel so hopeless that they don't act against it.

What we need is a combination of the ability to see things honestly as well as to be empowered.

To be candid, I want the bubble to burst. Because it will eventually and inevitably, but the longer the current charade goes on the more our planet and communities are decimated— and the more dependent we become on the few powerful people left who control those resources.
jessdkant.bsky.social
Energy requirements for AI mean that the only way for the bubble not to burst would require companies to multiply their carbon footprint to an unimaginable degree. Right now, while AI is barely functional and mostly a novelty for the lazy, it requires so much energy that data centers rival cities.

It should strike people that the stock market isn’t crashing despite the shutdown. Like sub-prime mortgages, it has yet again totally detached itself from economic reality while they speculate on how many workers they can fire to replace with AI. It is helping a failing economic strategy save face.

Eugenics is about collectively demarcating who among us is “inferior” enough, in the “right” ways, to be actively or passively cut out of society. It relies on us not caring about disability justice & also encourages people to disable each other to the point they can be easily, wordlessly left behind
histoftech.bsky.social
Long Covid is more prevalent in children in the US now than asthma. We are fucking destroying the next generations w/our behavior. (And adults.)

If you do care about resisting eugenics maybe start by not being the vector that disables a kid in RFK’s US. That is not too much to ask. It really isn’t.

The population of Venezuela needs international protection against the widespread and systematic attack to which the Venezuelan regime subjects it. This is demonstrated by the report dated May 29, 2018, submitted by the Organisation of American States to the International Criminal Court. This has served as the basis for nine states, including Argentina, to file complaints against the regime before that international body. We deeply appreciate this effort, which is decisive for the outcome of the Venezuelan tragedy.

I am convinced that the international community, in accordance with the responsibility to protect doctrine, is called upon to provide Venezuelans with the necessary support to bring about the regime change that is urgently needed to restore national and international security. Therefore, I have recently sent letters to several of the world’s leading figures to promote before the United Nations Security Council the adoption of effective protection measures for Venezuela by fostering regime change, a step that necessarily entails strengthening international security. Today I want to ask Israel and Argentina to contribute their expertise and influence to advance a sound and urgent decision-making process in the Security Council.

Such measures are imperative in the face of a hemispheric security hotspot like the one currently posed by the regime oppressing Venezuela. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organisation for Migration have certified that the current refugee crisis of people fleeing Venezuela is the largest in the history of the Americas. Argentina is an example of this crisis, having welcomed hundreds of thousands of our compatriots—a gesture for which Venezuelans will always be grateful. However, we must be aware that without a change of regime in our country, hemispheric and global security will be at risk.
