The X-Files is genuinely a timelessly good show, because when not focusing on overarching conspiracy plot, they would really just focus on a single concept and quite crucially, it would cast an incredible actor to center the episode around who would be utterly god damn captivating to watch.

All of this is true, and in addition, when we stop using AI art, it stops using water and electricity, but if we stop using human artists, the human still exists and has needs that must be met.
An AI datacenter devours enough water and electricity for a whole city of people each day.
A human artist only takes up as much electricity and water as any single human.
This is why, even if we settle copyrights and such, AI will always be immoral. Just pay a human.

This is what is actually meant by calling something "performative." Putting on a little show about caring for marginalized groups, but not doing anything in the actual world that reflects those values.
