It’s really interesting watching the reviews trickle in all having to contend with the fact that the song about her finances penis is the catchiest song she’s written in half a decade. Some grudgingly admit it and others deny it a little too forcefully to be convincing.
my early thoughts on the new Taylor:
- her lyrical corniness is getting less endearing over time
- she doesn’t embrace the showgirl theme enough musically
- sabrina has her a little shook, and her attempts to imitate that style are rough
- as always, there are a few bops

This is right. People are whipped up in a nihilistic fervor right now and when the lights come on at the end of the night we won’t be raptured or have an AI utopia or an authoritarian ethnostate. He’ll just be a failed, unpopular ex president who made everything a bit worse. And that’s embarrassing.
In 10 years, everyone will always have been against this.

This gets to my annoyance with the lionizing of Kirk perfectly. He wasn’t elevating political discourse on college campuses. He was humiliating college kids using his massive dark money funded propaganda apparatus.

I think baked in to a lot of these anti-Bluesky pieces is the seemingly sincere assumption that people on Bluesky are only on Bluesky and don’t get information or interaction from any other source.
also lots of projection going on. that social media means a great deal to the social life of this guy does not mean that it does for everyone else. i do not derive meaning from here and, professionally speaking, this isn’t even the platform i find most useful (no offense)
