Immigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.

this is a big part of Trump governance: ask for something insane, destructive. get told no repeatedly. threaten to burn down everything. get offered something normal that maybe we already had secured in previous administrations. declare victory.
If this is meaningfully different from the status quo, it's not obvious to me how. We've had an agreement granting us jurisdiction over US military bases there for 75 years. We could easily have arranged to build another one without this psychotic brinksmanship.

It might behoove centrist Dems to consider that it could be gross political malpractice NOT to push for abolishing ICE, because you are in effect saying to voters “deny what you are seeing with your own eyes and trust us- it totally makes sense from our perch in Washington that this agency exists”

People obsessed with IQ talk like everyone on earth takes an IQ test and the scores are kept in a database alongside demographic information and the IQ tests have all been validated for every possible population and issued in a consistent way etc when none of that is happening
