I understand that this is frustrating & I feel the same frustration at times
But I really do think (regardless of current events) that it's the duty of the people in a democracy to be pushy assholes to their officials at all times. Make them be better. Make them hate their jobs.

Everyone from Gallego to Pritzker is screaming that ICE as it stands needs to go, then Bluesky got mad that they weren’t at protests, then Klobuchar got attacked *for attending a protest* instead of Doing Something, the Senate Dems Did Something and a major tactical win and it gets branded a cave.

i've been watching the coyote on Alcatraz's progress with great interest. a week-ish ago, a coyote SWAM to Alcatraz for the first time and looked fuckin rough after the dangerous swim. but the coyote is doing fine now, gorging itself on unprepared birds & rats who are dealing with a sort of Godzilla

the tension between the "this is not who we are" set vs the "this is exactly who we are" set (tabling the "who do you mean we" thing for now) i do think misses out on the "who we pretend to be" angle. i do think it's probably at least somewhat bad that we've completely stopped pretending
