Just another person escaping the X binfire. Left wing, and most of the assumptions you’ve just made about that are true. He/him. Otrovert.

Choosing the lesser of two evils gets you at least half way to evil with every choice.
I will happily be divided from people who support genocide.
#bbclaurak asks @zackpolanski.bsky.social, doesn't opposing genocide stir up division?

Wondering why I am so angry and vocal about the UK Govt building a toolkit for tyrants?

In the USA, ICE agents took facial rec for tracking ‘non-citizens’ (so grim in itself!) and then immediately used it to build themselves a database of human rights protestors. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/30/t...

When even US lawyers are going “woah, that’s a bit immoral for me”, you’ve probably reached the end of the line.
DM me? We used to get hundreds of highly qualified applicants for a single job posting. Good prosecutors are increasingly hesitant to work for this DOJ.

At this point, I think it might be quicker to list members of the 1% from the last 20 years who *weren’t* noncing their way around the world with Epstein.

This is an insane thing, especially given Talulah was twice at least due to accompany Musk on trips to Epstein island, per emails leaked today.

I need some people willing to research and write to ally celebrities asking for things we can auction off for an inclusive cause...

Does anyone think this might be within their capacity?

I don’t get to fire guns. Why should I pay for the military?
I’m fit and well, why should I fund the NHS?
I don’t drive on the M1. Why should I pay for its maintenance?
I’ve never committed a crime. Why should I pay for the police?
I’ve never been a crime victim. Why should I pay for the courts?
Rachel Reeves: "It is not right that people who don't go to university bear the cost for others to." I don't use local leisure centres and I don't drive, so will I be made exempt for taxation that pays for all that stuff? Or is it only education we'll be going after

While circumstances vary, this case goes to show that organisations committed to trans inclusion can fight the bullshit from the likes of Sex Matters.

It also gives the lie to the feeble capitulation justifications made by the Guides and WI. Hopefully this will give them courage.

One of my final papers at university was about “the electronic panopticon”. It was about the use of pervasive monitoring of call centre staff and how they were the “dark satanic mills”of the late 20th c.

Centres backed off from it because it killed morale and productivity and was always subverted.

I had to check if this was real...

The Daily Mail. Running propaganda for the fascists, just like the 1930s.

Ugh.
NEW: ICE just executed another person in Minneapolis.

The UK urgently needs digital sovereignty. What is alluded to here but not explicitly stated is that an enormous and growing proportion of critical infrastructure depends on US SaaS - specifically Amazon, Microsoft and Google. This ties our hands when dealing with that country.
The UK needs #DigitalSovereignty.

This means running our services and critical infrastructure on homegrown open source tech that's beyond the reach of foreign political interference, whether it's the US, China or Israel.

We urge you to support the Early Day Motion tabled by @sianberry.bsky.social.

Labour are losing voters to the left and the right, but three times as many to the left. It shouldn’t take a genius electoral strategist to work out which way to tack.
24% of people who voted Labour at the last general election now plan to
vote Green or Lib Dem.

0% of those who voted Reform at the last election now plan to vote Labour.

Absolutely this. The contrasting approaches are:
1) Humour the megalomaniac in the hope that he will eventually change his mind/lose interest/die.
2) Accept the new reality and do the work to plan for the consequences.

Only one of these is visible and has a chance of successfully managing the risk.
Mark Carney has just shot down the stupidity of Starmer's dithering in his speech at Davos. "The old order is gone and isn't coming back."

Canada is getting on with reshaping its economy without the US.

Starmer just hopes for the best from a dictator.

PR now.

I mean, it would even help Labour at this point.

Absolutely this. Our future lies in Europe, politically and militarily. Could we really rely on the USA to support us or even side with us in our hour of need? Even if yes, at what price?

NATO needs to change into something that works if (when?) the US de-facto withdraws. Urgently. Or be replaced.
When we said NATO wasn't working we were derided.

When we said a nuclear weapons system relying on the US is dangerous we were called stupid.

The truth is the establishment are more interested in kissing US feet than keeping the UK safe.

It's time for a rethink.

Make social media safe. Get the companies to do their jobs, or ban it for everyone. Teenagers lose an outlet because billionaires can’t behave themselves.

Harm billionaires, not teenagers.
Many Labour MPs back an Australian led ban on social media for under 16s.

The UK Government should give it full consideration.
Sensible safeguarding
