As a (volunteer, unpaid) trustee of my public library my home address is publicly available. And I don't get qualified immunity or any special kind of protection when people want to ban books or yell at librarians for doing their jobs. I just stand up and get in front of them.
As a government employee, my salary, my employment records, my research notes, even my email – all are public record.

I still remember being a college freshman and a lesbian in a friend group I was still sort of not quite part of owned me so hard for referring to something I didn't like as "gay" that I felt so much shame I never did it again. Some people didn't get this and it shows.
It's funny because he called the fascists gay. Do you get it? He owned them so hard by validating their belief that being gay is shameful. Master strategist.

Not Buffalo area, but yay for composting! My village (Rochester area) has had a composting program for a few years now and it's great!

Fuck GWB, or even Obama, i miss FDR. no I wasn’t alive then, but i grew up surrounded by vestiges of the New Deal. So many public works projects in rural areas that we now take for granted happened because he had the audacity to care and made the government put money behind them.

Happening to be in NYC this week for anniversary-related festivities, we went to the Mamdani inauguration yesterday. It was historic, and amazing to be among so many people from the city and beyond who believed in his message.

The point is everyone gets $600 boots, not no one gets any boots.
Apparently, the Right is losing their minds over Rama Duwaji's boots. Perhaps they need a gentle reminder that when the rich are taxed fairly they are still, in fact, super rich. That bit doesnt change. They just pay more in taxes, as they should. And will still be able to afford $600 boots.

Taking away our cars can, should, and will be treated as a declaration of war upon rural America.
I find "America isn't really set up for it" to be an annoying rebuttal to any sort of proposal to reduce car dependency. Our leaders used policy to create a system of car dependency and we can sure as hell use policy to undo that. There are absolutely barriers, but do nothing is not a solution.
