One fun thing about the Japanese is we love the FUCK out of Christmas and have only the loosest concept of what is going on
Merry Christmas! Please enjoy the opening to this Japanese Christmas concert special that I watch every year.

As far as I can tell, this has otherwise been scrubbed from the internet

Ok we’re continuing to pool our money to buy bigger-ticket items on Transanta wishlists

Lex, 18, has a wheelchair on their wishlist. It’s $799 total

If a bunch of people send a bit of money we can get there!!

For @nymag.com I reported on 88-year-old Eleanor Holmes Norton, who was recently a victim of credit card fraud.

Among my findings:

The Norton campaign listed a deceased person as campaign treasurer for 2.5 years

Between '23-25, amid q's about her mental acuity, Norton loaned $110k to her campaign
The Crime That Exposed a Congresswoman’s Decline
Is Eleanor Holmes Norton, 88, still fit for office? Is she even in charge?

As of this morning 4,500 Starbucks workers are on strike. Don’t cross their picket line.

No Starbucks. NO Starbucks gift cards!
JUST IN: This morning, hundreds of baristas have joined our national ULP strike.

☕ The solidarity is strong: For every one barista on strike, dozens more allies have shown up in force to back our cause.

Our strike continues to grow in strength and power! #NoContractNoCoffee
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

The Vanity Fair spread from the White House is brutal. The photographer chose to make them look small and powerless in the wides, and brutishly unflattering in the absurdly tight portrait shots.

It's a masterclass of shade and manipulation via a camera.

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.
