Nvidia is not worth 14x what it was in 2021. Google hasn't doubled in value since April. Do I even need to say anything about Tesla? etc

Over no public dissents, #SCOTUS *denies* Trump administration's application for a stay in the immigration judges case (about whether the dispute should be in a district court or before the Merit Systems Protection Board).

It's the Trump administration's first real loss at #SCOTUS since April.

This report in Nature on the costs of competing for & administering scientific grants is shocking: "In other words, European taxpayers will have spent more on the funding process than on the funding itself, and the scientific ecosystem has been drained." www.nature.com/articles/d41... 🧪
Point of no returns: researchers are crossing a threshold in the fight for funding
With so little money to go round, the costs of competing for grants can exceed what the grants are worth. When that happens, nobody wins.

This is also why neurotypical society labels us “gullible” or “naïve”
#ActuallyAutistic
Autistic communication gives people the benefit of the doubt. Instead of trying to figure out what they’re “really thinking” or reinterpreting them to themselves, we take ppl at their word, and respond in kind.

NTs can misread this in an infinite number of ways.

All I want for Christmas is for every DC journalist to ask questions like this.
While a bunch of journalists were at the Kennedy Center taking pictures today, I asked the VP of Facilities and Operations at the Kennedy Center a direct question:

“Matt, is this the first time that you’ve defaced a public building?“

I feel like a lot of what is going on in media on all sides of it right now is people not thinking about their own ideas long enough for them to gain complexity, or about other people's ideas deeply enough to engage with complexity.
More ideas. We’re not going to run out of ideas but generative AI is a tool for people who don’t want to be involved in the step between idea and art. People whose own ideas will never evolve or become more complex because they don’t actually want to interact with or examine them.

old twitter was like a place in interwar berlin, paris, or shanghai people have romantic memories about in spite of witnessing knife fights between prostitutes daily and heroin junkies overdosing
My pleases-nobody sense of Return To Twitter Discourse is that the place can never return to what it was, and can never return to the idealized past version we imagine either, nor can that idealized past version be constructed anywhere else because it was always romantic self-regarding bullshit

Shocked by the awful death of Rob Reiner. I spoke with him for over an hour last night. We talked about his work and his plans for the future. I always enjoyed his company. We met at his Dad's in 1975. Last thing he said to me was "See you next year.." Such a terrible end. Such a sweet man.
