A Tory spokesperson goes in two-footed: "Reform is fast becoming the party of has-been politicians looking for their next gravy train. Their latest recruit used to say he'd be 'frightened to live in a country' run by Nigel Farage, which shows the level of loyalty for sale."
Former Conservative cabinet minister Nadhim Zahawi has defected to Reform UK

Having served in numerous ministerial positions for successive prime ministers, his defection will likely be seen as the most high-profile yet

"Britain needs Nigel Farage as prime minister," he said on Monday morning

The collaborationist Labour government: It is extremism for Muslims to not be beaten up by white supremacists.
I hope they do fire that police chief, and make a huge song and dance about what an Islamist bastard he is. Make it absolutely crystal clear to everyone, no matter how senior, that *everybody* is on the menu to get fucked with, if the country’s wackiest papers and MPs don’t immediately get their way

They assume we must all be getting paid to rise up cos:

A) they can't imagine a scenario where they would stand up for a stranger without financial incentive

B) they received financial incentives or free passes to cause trouble

C) there is insane funding behind them, and they draw small crowds

DHS I don't know if you were all absent on training day but you can't shoot babies even if you don't like their parents. There is nothing that can be happening with a baby that makes it ok to shoot babies.

What can history teach us about what happens when a populist strongman with an idiosyncratic taste for low interest rates undermines central bank independence?

This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

This is an overly generous take, the idea that after the bubble pops "AI" will become a technology we use like any other.

It ignores the fact that "AI" is heavily subsidized by the billions and doesn't scale. They lose money on every prompt and require ever more hardware with no end in sight.
‘Our tech overlords like the idea of being Thomas Edison, genius inventor-businessman, but they often have more in common with P.T. Barnum, genius of marketing and hype. Altman could go toe-to-toe with Barnum, and I wouldn’t want to pick a winner.’
