Obligatory introduction post!
I'm Charlene. I've been building computers since 94, websites since 97. I'm also a dancer, musician, and a photographer. So here I am, launching my own digital marketing agency for creatives and artists.

Doesn't look like there's a lot of marketing action on Bsky...

i feel like to believe this you have to not actually know any smart people?? the smartest people i know are also dumb as rocks and will happily do evil in exchange for money and fun little puzzles
the foundational myth of the tech industry is that smart people can't be evil

Anyway, AI has already stolen friends’ work, and is going to put other people out of work.

I do not think a political party that claims to be the party of workers in this country should be using it. Even for just a silly joke.

Ah, here it is! My partner and I were talking about creativity and copyright and specifically Spotify LITERALLY yesterday, so deeply amused that Cory Doctorow is finishing out the year with this one: pluralistic.net/2024/12/21/b...

It's been interesting being on art history tok which notes that this mirrors a lot of the ways we've been trained to see Jesus in historical art and that all they needed to add was a halo

(Since this is the internet: nobody is calling luigi Jesus)
They really miscalculated how that perp walk would be received....

If this happens, and you suspect it’s a BS copyright claim, please let @eff.org know. We will do our best to get you help.
I respect Marisa’s decision because nobody can afford lawsuits, least of all independent journalists, but just want to register my distaste for what is an abusive takedown notice for a newsworthy item.
on monday i posted a photo that i pulled directly from the campaign website of maryland GOP state legislator nino mangione because his cousin luigi was in it. it’s been taken down, but you can see it here: web.archive.org/web/20231004...

today i received this email from a crisis management lawyer:

When social media sites tell you moderation has limits I want you to know there was a time when you could only find the worst people on obscure forums created for being offensive because everywhere else moderated them into those corners.

Also, let’s do some math. I think that my husband and I are pretty median as far as health care consumers. We are both in good health. We have had occasional health issues (a mole that needed to be biopsied; a broken toe; a dislocated shoulder) but nothing significant or chronic.
One of the reasons that people who love health care profits love this model is that preventative care and catastrophic events are linked, and also, many catastrophic health events are not infrequent once they start occurring.
“Insurance should cover cancer and car accidents but not preventative care” is a debate we had in 2008 and the right lost it decisively.

If DOGE’s best idea on healthcare is tripling the cost of your annual welfare visits, they’re more inept and intellectually bankrupt than I thought.

Put it back on PBS. Sesame Street not being on public television anymore was an abomination to begin with.
Warner Bros. Discovery will not renew their deal to release new episodes of ‘Sesame Street’, THR reports.

Sesame Workshop is now looking for a new studio to release new episodes.

The amount that being any kind of artist has turned into being a full time sales person of your own personality, begging people to pay you anything at all for the work they love, sucks so bad

Quick reminder that over 60% of internet traffic is mobile. Websites should be responsive and accessible. I was shopping for art tonight and ran into several websites that I couldn't use on my phone because the mobile menus didn't work properly.

Between the earthquake/tsuanmi scare, the UnitedHealthcare shooting and the South Korea martial law stuff this week, it feels like Bluesky is getting more and more critical mass around breaking events that made Twitter so sticky and useful.

I somewhat understand wanting to get this vote on record, but leaking this immediately would be a great sign that Dems understand the threat they’re facing

show everyone exactly what they voted to cover up

lotta great folks on here have their DMs open, just saying
The House voted 204-198 to block release of the Gaetz ethics report. All Dems present voted to release, along with Republican Tom McClintock of CA. Every other Republican present voted to keep Gaetz's violations covered up.

Again, Gaetz is accused of sex trafficking and statutory rape.

The thing about "A.I." in art and writing and health insurance decision making and customer service and government services and a million other things... is that it sucks. And people are very very very tired of stuff that sucks.
