Yes, and a big chunk of the flashy stuff relies on tech and equipment developed and built decades ago that today’s USA is unable to replicate. A country that is no longer able to build a tanker or a frigate has a serious problem, that is not offset by fancy IA-enabled kinetic effectors or whatever.
One of the most annoying aspects of much geopolitical debate is how far it obsesses over supposedly superninja style US special forces or hyperflashy precision weaponry rather than the real foundations of American power that were once in logistics, naval strength, maintenance and mass production

Astonishingly bad figures for Teslavin the UK. Outsold by several Stellantis brands on BEVs last month. Outsold even by cheapo newcomer Leapmotor.

Tesla UK sales plunge 57% as Chinese rival BYD sells twice as many EVs
Just 647 Teslas were registered last month compared to 1,326 BYD EVs. This came amidst a difficult January for the new car market, which contracted by almost 5% year-on-year.

I have no opinion about Morgan McSweeney, but as a general point, I never understood why the publicly-sacrificing-my-top-aide-stunt should impress anybody, or clean this mess up, frankly.
UK politics is far too obsessed with the "evil advisor” anyway.
Keir Starmer: "Morgan McSweeney is an essential part of my team. He helped me change the Labour Party and win the election. Of course I have confidence in him."

This is scandalous behaviour by @greenparty.org.uk, and Rob is owed an apology. People look at this sort of stuff and think it's evidence of scholars engaging in a partisan fashion, and not only is that a slight on Rob's professionalism, it also damages the field more generally.
Just a quick note to @greenparty.org.uk and @greenpartyhan.bsky.social - I was not consulted on being quoted on your leaflets and I have not endorsed your campaign (or any campaign in this seat). I think this note, like the bar chart next to it, is misleading and out of context.

Really striking going through Epstein disclosures just how often British defamation lawyers are referred to: Schillings; Paul Tweed; oblique suggestions to sue to silence

Why? Because our libel laws let rich and powerful buy silence

Also, the scripture:

Peter Mandelson – the great genius at the heart of New Labour.

Dominic Cummings – the great genius at the heart of 'Leave'.

Nick Timothy – the great genius at the....

Morgan McSweeney – the great genius at the....

Can we ban all alleged great geniuses and cast them into outer darkness forever?
The "coincidence" of Epstein's cash payments to Peter Mandelson's partner/husband in 2009/10 and the then industry secretary's lobbying within cabinet for a softer post-crash policy towards bankers looks on the face of it like outright corruption. Certainly demands police investigation.

You dont win 'em all! Reform's Matt Goodwin in Sunday Times: 'Most .. people criticising me are nerds. The last thing I want is to be at some dinner party table with Nick Robinson & Mary Beard. I’ve written this lengthy FT analysis overnight about the multiple multi-thousand pound Epstein payments to Mandelson’s husband
