I am begging anyone with the ability to commission articles in my industry: let trans people write about what is happening to us right now.

Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

1. Major ruling: A federal court has ruled, for now, that Trump cannot take away school lunch money from hungry kids over trans students.

This is Gov. Janet Mills first victory after telling Trump she would "see you in court."

Judge Rules Trump Cannot Take School Lunch Money From Hungry Kids In Maine Over Trans Students
The Bush-appointed judge chastised the government for failing to comply with rules over the termination of funding after it blocked funding over trans students in Maine.

there is a certain kind of person alive who wants to enact psychological terror on minorities and children, complete anti-social behavior not fit for society
Jesse Singal, a transphobic bigot who has dedicated a large portion of his career to spreading misinformation about LGBTQ+ people, is baffled that John Oliver would do a single episode debunking his life's work

Also a third thing: even if people have received due process, they shouldn't be deported to random third countries (looking at you too, my own country)
And a fourth thing: nobody should be sent to concentration camps at all. Even if they were all the worst criminals alive, properly tried.

I get the stock market is bad but the equivalent has already happened to foreign aid, research funding, and public health. Everyone didn't freak out because there isn't some ticker on the news measuring the number of cancer researchers and Ebola prevention experts being fired.

This goes for Elon as well. I just can’t imagine having infinite resources and using that to be a miserable prick instead of kind. I can’t imagine that being the endpoint of any form of success that has any legitimacy.

that the people with all the money seem wholly incapable of understanding that there’s inherent value in human interaction seems like something we are going to have to deal with eventually. you can’t “replace teachers with AI” and you should honestly be shunned for saying so. it’s anti-human

TAPPER: You're imposing a 10% on the Heard and MccDonald islands. They have zero human inhabitants. Why are you putting tariffs on islands entirely populated by penguins?

ROLLINS: Whatever. Listen, the people leading this are serious, intentional, patriotic, the smartest I've ever worked with.

I have a brother in HVAC and a brother in welding. Both jobs require two-year degrees from a CC with general education requirements, maintaining certifications, and continuing education for additional certifications.

Even blue-collar jobs require a college education, because it's 2025, not 1955.
This is part of the big manufacturing lie: that people can get jobs with no education or training just wielding screwdrivers.

Apple cannot make iPhones in the US without an army of tooling engineers, and we don’t even have the tooling engineers here to educate an army of tooling engineers.
Lutnick: "The army of millions and millions of human beings screwing in little screws to make iPhones -- that kind of thing is going to come to America."

Massive protest for Palestine rocks DC as Gaza genocide begins anew
Trump has given Israel the green light to resume its genocide, and so the movement for Palestine returns to the nation's capital.

in this year:

1. a guy may credibly get away with murdering a healthcare ceo

2. the black community is driving consumer trends in response to dei purges

3. a bunch of actors successfully tanked tesla stock

4. millions of people appeared in the streets to say "fuck trump" and lived
catching up on discourse and large peaceful protests absolutely have a place in movements of resistance. it's good that the ideologically diverse normies are successfully and publicly mobilizing; it helps establish a general cultural agreement that rebelling in this time is normal.

crowd large and crowd mad
The message is: crowd large.

Many politicians, administrators, and business leaders, in bowing to Trump, have drawn confidence and comfort from the perceived vibe shift.

Events like this puncture that delusion.
You can stop asking where the mass opposition is. It's everywhere.
People poured out to protest not only what Trump has done—and what they fear he will do next.
