I always appreciated my professors who had us do a final paper due at the end of the semester that we started on the first day. We built it, edited it, and fine-tuned it throughout the semester.
Weeks 1-2: Research gathering
Weeks 3-5: Literature Review
Weeks 6-9: Analysis
Weeks 10-12: Editing etc

The veneers feel very much like a parody of the future from the Reagan era; they look like Reagan-era teeth.
srsly how americans are with teeth is comorbid with the complex of fixations and anxieties that are creating fascism 2. it's all very starship troopers somehow
This is also how I feel about everyone getting veneers at the same time

And showing up often means sending a letter and following up with calls so excuses of not having time don't fly.
I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

6 years today the first COVID case was identified in a man in Wuhan marking the beginning of a global pandemic that changed the world. We are way less prepared today to face another pandemic than we were back then. This fact makes me sad.

People are struggling. I want us to think about how we're going to help each other hang in there this winter. How are you going to support your friends, co-strugglers, and community as they push through this moment? How can you help people muddle through, materially and/or emotionally?

Just saw someone described as an "ontologist" and now I want Clinical Ontologist to be a job title.

Welcome to the Department of Clinical Ontology. Let's go over your chart. I see that you are. Are you still as you were or are you otherwise? For your case of being, I prescribe becoming.

it's weird to live in a world where a new 'worst thing you've ever imagined' happens at least a few times a month and it's easy to let it all run together and just sort of wash over you and go totally numb to all of it so you don't freak out because you still have to do laundry and go to work.

The more i learn, the more im convinced that the "Great Recession" of 2008 should be re-classified as "The Great Black Depression."

Why?

Because the 2008 Financial Crisis wiped out more Black wealth than any other single event in American history.

Excluding nothing.

That happened IRL. There's no line between "organized crime" and Wall Street, Silicon Valley, or the media. Dirty money is everywhere, including the "legal" gambling apps.
