We are two days away from the true Metra happy hour: on New Year’s Eve, trains that arrive or depart downtown after 6pm are free but alcohol is prohibited after 7pm, so from 6-7pm you can drink a beer (BYOB) and ride Metra for free

Have some extra time over the holidays? Definitely watch the new PBS Chicago Works special with Geoffrey Baer

In just fifteen minutes they've already hit the bridge houses, the Cubs scoreboard, and trimmed the Wrigley ivy!

Protecting the prairie means a stop to sprawl, which also means sustainable growth needs to come from the areas we’ve already built out: infill and density.

And making the urban core *more* auto-dependent blows a hole in the simple geometry of making more space for more people.

You checked the box, you posted the memes, you owned the libs, and now we are all being rewarded for your hatred and racism. Thanks.

I took a picture earlier this week that I think encapsulates the isolation and danger of living in a city that doesn’t #plowthesidewalks and a neighborhood where reactionaries want to tear out an under-construction safety project on Archer Avenue.

It’s a message about priorities.

This cut could end the Better Streets for Buses program, canceling BRT again.

“CTA will explore ways to incorporate improvements as part of street resurfacing, Complete Streets and other planned roadway projects (adding) only a “marginal cost to incorporate” bus-related improvements, Meter said.”

CDOT confirms they don't even start in on clearing bike lanes until Monday morning if snow falls over the weekend.

And then it takes them several days to clear 7 miles

The majority of the 8,000 miles of roads are cleared 24/7, usually within 12 hours of the snowfall stopping.

Friends, I hope you're posting these pictures to reports the 311 app. I want #PlowTheSidewalks and I think one of the reasons politicians brush it aside is they don't think it's a huge problem.

MAKE IT THE CITY OF CHICAGO'S PROBLEM.
Across the street from my neighbors who haven't shoveled their sidewalk is an elderly, below the knee amputee whose sidewalk is pristine.

Not a good look...FOR CHICAGO. Don't make my disabled neighbor or these folks who are very nice and just out of town responsible for the public way!!!!!

How much of the Lincoln Yards site would be developed by now if the city had simply passed a blanket upzone (say to DX-7 or 10) and Sterling Bay subdivided and sold the site to smaller builders? How much more money would they have made? How much money would the city have saved?

Imagine getting off the bus at this stop on a major arterial street in Chicago.

The ramp comes down and you roll off with a wheelchair or walker.

I use this stop often with my kids.

The packed ice is about 4 inches thick. The trampled boot path is around 12 inches wide.
