Writers: If you get an error opening your WIP, STOP.

Do NOT attempt to open it or let your writing program run an auto repair.

Close the program, and MAKE A COPY OF YOUR DOCUMENT.

Open/repair the COPY ONLY.

Make a new copy for each attempt.

This keeps a “fix” from becoming permanent damage.

He’s a racism test

And he knows it and he knows white people won’t actively adress it and he’s right

And he’s spun it out in ever widening circles

Because no one will stop to care about those he targets
Rufo said, immediately, that he stoked CRT discourse to muddy waters+get people to view everything as CRT (later, DEI) - that's not even subjective it's an exact definitional example of "acting in bad faith"!

Rufo is a walking P/F "social intelligence" test; way too many people keep failing it.

Hey. *pokes Romancelandia* I have a historical romance for youuuuu
She’s a “widow” and companion for a young society Miss and he’s the older ambivalent half brother of said miss (and a Duke!) who moonlights as a bareknuckle boxer. She goes to his fight and he takes her as his prize.

Well this is fascinating!
I have a new paper about these cute little guys (and some girls)!

White-necked Jacobins are interesting because all males and some but not all (!) females are brightly colored. The scientific question is why some but not all females?

Vivian Stephens is the woman who revolutionized the American category romance. You should listen to her two-part interview on the Black Romance Podcast.

Saw something this weekend about accepting that authors will write with AI. No. Don’t accept it, don’t forgive them.
I’m seeing a lot of soft takes from industry mutuals at the moment that we shouldn’t be so hard on those who use generative AI because it’s becoming harder and harder to resist.
Wrong. Betraying your ethics (and your peers) because ‘everyone else is doing it’ does not suddenly make it acceptable.

There were Black authors who wrote romance for Harlequin and Silhouette in the 80s and 90s, but they often had to write white stories in order to get published. Here are four examples: romancehistory.com/2024/02/10/w...

ASL interpreters who work in the arts (concerts, opera, theatre, etc) deserve to be valued as artists too. it takes so much skill to be this good at capturing the FEEL of music beyond just translating the meaning of the text and it’s an invaluable accessibility service
The ASL version of “Not Like Us” is magnificent.

ICYMI: I built a starter pack of classic romances that goes all the way back to the 1950s. Selected to show the genre’s breadth, not simply to hit familiar highlights. It’s a lot of hidden gems, and I’ve probably left off at least one of your faves (gift link). #RomanceColumn #Romancelandia

I hate that everyone has either forgotten or has been purposefully pretending that the far right are not anti-sex or anti-sexual content. They’re very very pro-sex, as long as the sex helps achieve their misogynistic white supremacists goals.
Do people still think this is a contradiction?

Authors, if you see this, it’s a sign to NOT post the first line of your book where it can be scraped like everything else online. That the A I goons are going to feed it all into their rusty blenders doesn't mean you have to make it easy for them.

This goes double for a WIP.

All of this.

Also, I'm a romance author, not a reporter. When I have something you can do to help I will scream it from the rooftops.

When I don't, my literal job is finding the joy. Joy is hard right now! Manufacturing it in this kind of hellscape is a job for a pro.

Luckily, that's what I am. 💓
I probably don't even need to say this, BUT. Me not posting about every nightmarish thing is not because I am not internally (or externally!) screaming multiple times per day, i just figure you heard about it from 100 other people posting about each new nightmare. I assure you, my soul is cracking.
