DHS has announced the end of temporary immigration protections for Haitians.

The decision, effective Feb. 3, 2026, affects up to more than a half million Haitians. They now face returning to a country plagued by criminal gangs that control all major roads into the capital Port-au-Prince.

The Department of Homeland Security said TPS for Haiti ends Feb. 3, 2026, affecting over half a million people who may face return to gang-controlled Port-au-Prince.

NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

Trump’s Fury at BBC Gets Unnerving Results with Pro-MAGA Edit Stunner
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

Yes, HID headlights are very bright but the bigger problem is the proliferation of gargantuan vehicles with 5’+ hood heights so that if you’re driving a normal sized car their headlights are at your eye level rather than seat level like they’re supposed to be.

I think Democrats should double down on trans rights now. It's obvious that most voters don't care about it so you might as well stick with your principles and goad Republicans into focusing on it at the expense of everything else so they're the ones who look like freaks.

Folks are dunking on this but honestly whatever you think of the man he has a point - capitalism did not create oppression, and what we had before capitalism was not freer for the majority of people.

Look up how subsistence peasantry lived, don't compare yourself to nobles or literati.
“Capitalism forces you to wake up at 7am against your body’s natural rhythms” no that’s Taylorism and if you don’t like living in a society that coordinates effort to ensure a better outcome for all then I don’t think you’ll love the alternatives

Because the Liberal Currents writers have actual values, they are, almost uniquely among media, able to react our fascist moment not by asking “What if all our beliefs are wrong? What if we went too far with all the democracy and fairness stuff?” but by asking “How do we beat the fascists again?”

"surely you can replace 13% of the population and their silly little identity issues with a message that appeals to the majority of people"is the message racism? is it specifically hating minorities? if not,no you can't
I just read a lament, re: the laborious, nettlesome burden of keeping Black voters motivated to turn out, that the Dem coalition relies “on placating a group that is 13% of the population.”

Just do the math, it went on — which makes one wonder: doesn’t “the math” involve counting to 50? Hello?

in general the American individuality and distrust of government disappears once criminal justice enters the conversation

Americans hate the government meddling in their everyday affairs but "criminals" are a separate class of ontologically bad people that they could never ever be a part of

Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.
