For October 8th’s #DIYandDie, a bit of a change of pace—I posted the text of Contagion Press’s “Queer Goetia” for TDoR last year because it unintentionally answers a question that comes up a lot for me: what are my duties to the Beloved Dead, to myself, and to a given person’s survivors?

1. [QUEER: “strange, peculiar, eccentric.” From the German quer meaning “oblique, perverse, odd” which in turn comes from the Old High German word for “oblique.” twerh, which is derived from the root terkw, “to turn, twist, wind” as in “the labyrinth turns, twists, winds.”]

this feels like the corollary to we need Mamdani in NYC and an oyster fisherman in Maine and a midwestern dad in Minnesota.

we're supposed to be the party that embraces the fact that we're a diverse and chaotic nation, stop test-polling yourself to generic national oatmeal!!!

It's interesting seeing the different ways resistance has formed in different cities. Los Angeles Organized, Chicago Radicalized, and Portland Got Weird as Fuck. All 3 have had success unifying their respective cities.

I guess my point is there are multiple paths to ungovernability.

It's not just that Trump took a request from the audience to label "Antifa" as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, and then agreed to do it... it's that Trump went to shadow president Stephen Miller for final authorization and approval right there on camera.

the president, the sec of state, and a random reporter are casually discussing whether to designate antifa a foreign terrorist organization

🧵 Trump is criminally invading states under false pretenses. His supporters are trying to instigate violence by dressing as antifa and committing crimes.

In this clip from Portland, Joey Gibson of "Patriot Prayer" and his fiancée, Lindsey Nichols, tried to cause trouble before being forced away.

When the nazis were coming into power, there was a lag before local law enforcement was fully on board. People were able to get police protection from nazi-aligned paramilitaries. Here, today, police look at rising fascism and say “Finally. We’ve been waiting for this.” www.notus.org/democrats/me...
Democrats' New Fear: They Can’t Rely on Local Law Enforcement for Protection
“They called the local sheriff; they showed up and were going to arrest me,” said Rep. Steven Horsford.

"Andy Ngo briefs the president on Antifa" is a short form horror story and it's not the worst part of that entire meeting

The literal reading of this statement is Pam Bondi is planning extrajudicial executions of random protesters.

My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa."

this is how I, a resident of LA, found out that the Palisades fire was arson, that they caught the guy, and that he used gen AI to work his way up to doing the crime

the city of los angeles burned in january in part because of a man who couldn’t stop generating images of burning cities on ChatGPT, and then after he lit the fire he asked if the fire he started was his fault

Ew ew ew just for an ad for one of those AI assistants in which a woman asks it to write a haiku about her cat.

You can’t write a 3 line, 17 syllable poem about your cat?????

What is being alive for if not writing tiny little poems about your cat??!!

Add this to my joker file. Good lord.

Anti-fascist action, which began as a response to the National Fascist Party, began organizing in the 1920's and the "girlfriend of one of its founders" would be well over 100.

it always blows my mind when these people act like “the left just calls everyone nazis” these days and it’s like no. we’re calling nazis nazis! there just happens to be a lot of them in and around the government these days!

More history from this Nazi adulated by the Trump team. These are explicit, proud Nazis who scream and cry and call every referee they can find when you quote their Nazism back to them.
Multiple tweets from Nazi Jack Posobiec in 2016 making "jokes" involving the Nazi code "1488."

Despite getting whatever anti-trans narrative they wanted out of the Charlie Kirk shooting, the American right is now blaming the Jews instead, because content must be created. It is almost like the "first they came for" thing is not hypothetical!

Over the last few months, the Trump Administration has pursued illegal military action in the Caribbean and are preparing for what looks like a regime change military operation in Venezuela.

Without a vote and without public debate.

I don't think we'll ever get another sentence which sums up everything the New York Times embodies quite like "Some legal experts have called it a crime to summarily kill civilians".
mattcameron.bsky.social
hey @nytimes.com: there is no counterpoint here. There are no credible legal experts who would EVER say that the US military has any right or authority to blow civilian craft out of the Caribbean and kill their crews from afar without any provocation. There is no other side to this question.
"Some legal experts have called it a crime to summarily kill civilians not directly taking part in hostilities, even if they are believed to be smuggling drugs."

One of the (many) legal gaps that needs to be filled after this nightmare is over is to prohibit federal law enforcement agencies from using federal funds to create propaganda videos with anyone in custody. This is all about spectacle and content creation, remove the incentive and the means

Every smartphone in the world contains a CPU descended from one designed by a trans woman in the 1980s. The Matrix is one of the most influential movie franchises of all time. Electronic music was pioneered and popularized by a trans woman. I could go on
katie.bzky.team
i think my favourite part about being a trans woman is how much of an impact we have on culture. a friend reminded me today about a popular meme format she created. another friend today casually told me about how she was the most notorious roblox hacker when she was a child.

just a day in the life!

very cool that if you are working on behalf of right-wing culture warriors, you no longer need standing to have your claim adjudicated by the supreme court

It's not just that they're going to strike down a law against conversion therapy, it's that they're going to do it on behalf of made-up claims from a straw plaintiff who can't honestly show the law affected her at all
tomscocca.bsky.social
One thing about American's widespread distrust and disapproval of the Supreme Court is that mainstream news coverage mostly doesn't dwell on stuff like standing, so people don't even begin to grasp how rigged the Court truly is www.nytimes.com/live/2025/10...
