I’ve never even heard of a hygiene centre here in Canada. Seems like if someone struggling even hopes to climb out of that situation, this would be necessary. Have any Canadians seen these in their communities? Maybe I’m just naive?
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Tonight Gluggagægir (Window Peeper), the 10th of Iceland's 13 Yule Lads, comes down from the mountains. He likes to peep into windows to see if there is something inside worth stealing.
Children leave their shoes out in the window, he gives the good ones a small gift, the bad ones get a potato.

My eldest son, now 18, made this for his younger brother, now 16. His brother has been battling brain cancer for several years. This is him with his dog Orca, who sleeps with him every night. So proud of the both of them. Oil on canvas. #artadventcalendar
