Yes, MAHA gang is hugely to blame. And yes, 🍁has its own M-CHA gang (god help us).

And, PRO-infxn public health msg'ing since COVID (Hybrid Immunity ™️, get infected or accrue Immunity Debt™️, 'only the vulnerable') accelerated this mess.

Can't be PRO-infection AND pro-vax 🤷

Being bedbound is not a luxury

Social media is a connection to the world for many of us

Disability is not a vacation & men aren’t providing for the vast majority of us

New Lancet meta-analysis finds measles vaccine immunity wanes over time, with seropositivity dropping from ~93% within 10 yrs to ~83% at 16–22 yrs.

The authors say their findings warrant an urgent review of vaccination strategies

You’re much closer to becoming disabled or homeless than you are to becoming rich and wealthy.

It’s not a moral failing. It’s not something you can “try harder” your way out of.

We need robust social supports & safety nets to ensure everyone is properly cared for.

One of the big COVID facts that tend to make people go deer in headlights is the high percentage of asymptomatic infections. Unfortunately these infections can still cause you or others problems months or years later. This was known back in 2020 but shushed up afterwards.

Disabled people are not getting a free ride.

They’re not stealing your tax dollars.

The process to get approved is dehumanizing & painful. It’s designed to make you quit.

You sacrifice your autonomy, dignity and independence for a benefit that forces you to live in legislated poverty.

Saying that the kids in Gaza who died of starvation had “pre existing conditions” is eugenics.

It’s a way to make people not care that kids are being starved to death.

It’s ableism.

It’s labelling them as expendable because they were sick.

No child is expendable.

Vaccines don’t prevent infection. Vaccines are meant to produce immunological memory and antibody production, so that when you get infected, your immune system can rapidly respond to eliminate the pathogen and prevent serious complications, including death.

Vaccines don’t cause autism!

On any given day, there are more people in Canada with Long Covid than there are people who wear a high quality mask. Or a crappy quality mask, which is still the majority of masks I see.

What an utter failure of public health education.
About 2.5% of people in Canada are infected and/or experiencing life activity-limiting long COVID this week.

The estimated cost of hospitalizations from this week's infections in Canada is $25.6M.

Yes, and it’s ridiculous & horrific that:
* We haven’t been able to get 2 or more vaccines a year if we want.
* Doctors & HCWs don’t wear masks & we have to jump through hoops to get them to consider it.
* There’s no infection control ANYWHERE in society.
* 1% of people mask on airplanes. #COVID
It’s honestly ridiculous and horrific that we all need to make these complicated calculations to figure out when to get our next COVID vaccine.

COVID vaccines should be accessible to anyone who wants them every year (like flu vaccines) and all year round.

I am deeply disturbed by this rhetoric that preexisting health problems mean deaths don’t matter. We saw this during COVID. Now it gets applied to every public health threat—H5N1, measles, etc.—and genocide. Disabled people are not disposable.
I’m kind of speechless with this one. I can’t imagine the kind of person who continues to make the argument that it doesn’t count as real starvation if the kids were already sick.
