Leslie Lamport is also the guy who wrote a paper titled Buridan’s Principle, which is clearly a paper that tries to break some kind of record for published academic works given the number of times the word “ass” occurs in it. He’s got a sense of humor and is certainly trolling us all with LaTeX.
explaining to @sarasoci.al how LaTeX is “lah-tech” and not “lay-tex” and she thinks i’m doing a bit until i go “no i’m totally serious the X isn’t an X it’s Chi” and she pauses for like 5 seconds and goes “i think i’m going to go jump off a bridge”

This should scare anyone who understands the scale of this and how easily manipulated these systems become. For some, it might just make us a little dumber or less eager to question what we read. For others it’s an effective capture where everything real becomes secondary to the prompt.
We’re watching a shift where AI simulates the cohesion and reinforcement that used to require an entire online community. A single person can now build a complete parallel reality with nothing more than a prompt window. Which seems bad.

I can’t deal with US politics anymore. There are so many self serving parties and politicians.
Sure, I’m happy about Mamdani and all that made his campaign happen but what a fucking mess of an opposition party. Democrats might as well explicitly join the MAGA circlejerk.

My brain has been back on distributed systems engineering and I immediately read this as CAP theorem and had the oddest chuckle.
I wonder when we have The Conversation about CAP being dead weight for the Democratic Party.
I didn’t realize CAP had Larry Summers as a senior fellow working on its economic policy team.
