The reasons US students and others are especially insistent on protesting genocide in Gaza are obvious and correct: 1) the US bears direct responsibility for it, and 2) US institutions are enforcing intensive repression of dissent, free speech, and truth regarding Gaza, not Sudan or elsewhere.

The good news: authoritarian capitalists can't change the laws of physics. 2025 was still a record year for solar installation in the US, despite whatever the uneducated goons in the white house want.

The one year anniversary of Yoon's failed martial law takeover just passed and lots of untold stories came out proving that THE ONLY REASON KOREA IS STILL A FREE COUNTRY IS BECAUSE PEOPLE DISOBEYED ILLEGAL ORDERS.

The coup was over in hours because people said no.

the biggest lie in american politics, probably only second to bush lying us into iraq, has been democrats constantly telling us "we just can't..." only to watch republicans do whatever the fuck they want over and over and over. makes me sick.

Big Oil is "wildly desperate to dodge the growing array of lawsuits over the damage caused by their decades-long scheme to deceive the public about climate change," writes @aaronregunberg.bsky.social.

The fossil fuel industry is again urging the Supreme Court to help them escape accountability.
The Supreme Court’s Ethics Code Is a Joke. Big Oil Knows That.
Oil companies want the Supreme Court to intervene to dismiss lawsuits about climate change. Amy Coney Barrett and Samuel Alito both have big conflicts of interest on that front.

The very stupid-on-its-face OU essay "scandal" is about forcing a trans person out of higher ed, and discussing the actual essay is acceding to the fascist framing of the issue and arguing on their terms.

Students get bad grades every day which, no matter how dubious, do not result in firings.

Society is a construct. You can just ask someone to do a ska cover of Faith of the Heart and they'll say "$300 please" and you give it to them and then you have it.

While Maryland Gov. Moore posted about Trans Day of Rememberance, his state was torturing a trans woman by denying her hormones and housing her with men--according to her lawyer--for 2 months.

All of this for "hate crime" charges from alleged vandalism of a trans symbol near a Catholic school.

I'm kind of baffled how the "moderates" have apparently all decided to turn against climate policy at once, just as China reaches green electrostate liftoff mode. I thought these people were all about National Greatness and making Hard Choices

I have no doubt that Zohran Mamdani would fight to protect my life and my rights. I have no doubt the ADL has entirely failed to protect me and my family from fascists.

I know where my allegiance lies.

Even if the House was fully functional, they're in session for an avg of 147 days and out for 218.

Under Speaker Johnson, Congress has been in session only 12 of the last 97 days, and he still won't swear in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva.

Through various accounts, we've been warning that the failure to hold these criminals accountable since Bush decided to torture people was a slide into fascism. Here we are, all while they aim the military at their own people. Wake up!
More illegal boat strikes by the US, this time killing 14 (with one survivor) in four separate attacks off eastern Mexican coast. Once again, no evidence or legal justification provided. Bears repeating that these strikes are illegal, immoral, and ineffective
