The fast reader's dilemma: it takes me about 2.5-3 hours to read an average novel. One book is over in a flash, but there's SO MANY trilogies, duologies, and series that are incomplete that by the time they're done it's been 6+ months AND several dozen books, so you have to reread everything...

One of the things I love about punk culture is how unabashedly they embrace these values because they MEAN something (and a lot more of us than average have needed that hand before, and may need it again, which helps), not because of societal expectations.

It’s weird to live in a time when basic principles like cruelty is wrong, cheating is empty & the idea that curiosity, generosity, originality, the satisfaction of earned accomplishments & loving intimacy are the center of a good life feel like countercultural concepts
