Just pathetically in Heathrow’s pocket, Govt backs the airport’s own climate-wrecking expansion plan, the one that requires moving (!) the M25.

Aviation bosses and frequent flyers causing everyone else’s daily lives tons of miserable disruption. Ridiculous!

Heathrow's plan for longer third runway chosen by government
Under the selected plan, the runway would be up to 3.5km long and require a new road tunnel under the airport.

authors you have the chance to do the funniest thing right now
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.

I guess we should be grateful that this is happening only in local government at the moment.
"Six months on from the local elections – after which Reform was unable to form an administration – the party’s presence in the county is in disarray following weeks of resignations, suspensions and infighting."

The BBC is the biggest thump of soft power the UK has and its reach and influence to the benefit of the country is extraordinary. Destroy it, hugely damage the UK. The same people who helped weaken us over Brexit are seeking to do it again.
Interesting to see so many great British patriots right now begging an American president to bankrupt one of Britain’s last remaining truly national institutions.

This one seems to have got a lot of people who don't like cars very het up. They're arguing "well fine, fit them with trackers, why should drivers get away with speeding etc". This is a COLLOSAL mistake, and a perfect example of how you really need to think about unintended consequences first. 🧵
Year one: "We can work it out as an estimate"
Year two: "Oh, look, lots of people are dodging the system!"
Year three: "We need to fit mandatory trackers to every car in the country."
Year four plus: "Why shouldn't tracker data be used in evidence? What have people got to hide?"
I don’t think think “estimated road use” is right approach - at the least drivers should have the *option* of getting a black box fitted that just tracks their EVs usage, but come on, Mel, impersonate a serious politician!

Sad to say - we have had to cancel 9 Lessons in Cardiff - Cardiff just wasn’t very interested and we still had very low sales at the beginning of the week - we never make money on the shows , but we can’t afford to lose £1000s - sorry to those of you who were looking forward to it
We always try to get Nine Lessons shows beyond London - it is never profitable but we hope it makes it accessible for others - This year is CARDIFF - but no one seems to want to come - so we will pull it next week if we see that it is going to lose us too much money

Ban X in the UK. It's a misinformation factory.
Grok appears to have started offering this false account about eye-witnesses by generating its view from false rumours on X. It began by saying there wasn't evidence then picked up rumour and misinformation and amplified it

Yong people are broke bc they buy Starbucks daily ($42)

Became

bc they buy avocado toast in a sitdown restaurant weekly ($20)

Became

bc of a weekly to-go pastry ($6)

Will soon be

You're broke bc you buy one non-gruel item EVERY month

Even the inequality-absolving caricature is shrinkflating
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”

I'm not really sure what happened here. Twitter was declared dead because it was bought by a billionaire tech bro dickhead and ruined, so everyone decided the next social network to use was... another one owned by a billionaire tech bro dickhead?

Did I miss something along the way here?

I’m really starting to suspect that most of the tech bros haven’t actually read Tolkien, as they certainly don’t understand it.

The gentle hobbits save the “hard men” of Gondor, largely through compassion and selflessness. Not the other way around. The Christian parable is barely hidden!

It's increasingly obvious that Labour's strategy - call it Starmerism, Blue Labour, whatever - has got it badly wrong. It has alienated the party's core vote while failing to win over those leaning to Reform. There was no shortage of people warning them they were getting it wrong either.
Three years ago, Labour was polling in the 50s.
