Who is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces?

Where is the Speaker of the House in the Armed Forces Chain of Command?
These two paragraphs are so insane. It’s Pelosi’s fault there was violence but also there wasn’t violence

I don't know how to describe it, but there's this profound brokenness in the American body politic where nobody can take the implications of anything seriously. People keep saying things that should be existential threats to the political system, and then everyone just keeps going on as normal.
fuck outta here

For my entire 15 years in NYC, this ****ing ramp has been my go-to example of how stupid the bike "infrastructure" that has actually been built in the city is. And @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social just went out and fixed it on day 6.

I feel so represented I could cry.
Zohran just went out and fixed the Williamsburg Bridge bike entrance. Just did it. No faffing, no nonsense. Bam. Fixed.

Do I have it correct that Trump has, in effect, published a manifesto about his failed coup where he admits it was an attempted coup.

Sources from the early 21st century are full of references by Ukrainians to the 2014 uprising against the petty robber baron Viktor Yanukovych as the “Revolution of Dignity”, indicating they believed dignity to be a worthwhile virtue and one that guided their actions. In contrast, many Americans
How long must we be forced to endure this national humiliation

Walz is out of Fs: "Not a single Republican supported this, so every Minnesotan from here on, whoever uses this program, there is no bit of thanks that would go to the R legislators who did all they could to stop this ... our schools have money to pay their teachers? I'll take credit for that too."

The official position of the White House is that on January 6, "it was the Democrats who staged the real insurrection by certifying a fraud-ridden election."

Five years ago today, Donald Trump ignited a violent mob to attack the Capitol and disrupt the peaceful transfer of power.

Last year, Donald Trump pardoned over 1,500 of those insurrectionists.

It's an assault on American democracy.

All of the arguments about how futile or counterproductive or whatever impeachment would be fall flat when you're reminded Trump genuinely does not want to be impeached again, and that's the main reason he cares at all about the outcome of the midterms.
Trump: "You gotta win the midterms. Because if we don't win the midterms, they'll find a reason to impeach me. I'll get impeached."

Five years ago today, the United States Capitol was attacked in a violent insurrection incited by the President of the United States for one purpose: to overturn a free and fair election and cling to power in clear violation of the Constitution.

Yep, I've got a History degree and the lessons from it are far less predictive of what will happen in contemporary society than Gender Studies and Critical Race Theory, which are like that sports almanac in Back to the Future II.
kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life

I mean it's literally just eugenics, it's considered uncouth to say this explicitly but they think it's worse to have an autistic child than a dead one
The vaccine autism thing is bullshit but even if you believed it, it seems incredibly fucked up to then believe that raising child death rates is some sort of worthwhile trade-off to reduce autism rates
BREAKING: CDC announces an unprecedented overhaul of the childhood vaccine schedule, a significant shift that recommends fewer shots for all kids.

Allies, who fought and bled and sacrificed alongside us.

This kind of talk from a "professional" US Army officer is despicable and worthy of censure
