We must refuse to allow the U.S. government and the media to normalize mass censorship in response to a manufactured moral panic about technology and social media.
The UK's Online Safety Act is a licence for censorship – and the rest of the world is following suit | Taylor Lorenz
From the US and Australia to France and Italy, those seeking to obliterate privacy and restrict content are on the move, says technology journalist Taylor Lorenz

By getting express trains off the existing network, HS2 clears space for others - particularly FREIGHT. Fewer lorries on roads = major CO2 win.
The northern legs, presently "cancelled", are the crucial part. We need to safeguard the routes and BUILD THEM.

REMINDER: HS2, delivered in full, was the most effective single investment to reduce the UK's emissions.

The last government cancelled it, this government doubled down. Until they reverse the cancellation, Labour cannot be taken seriously on the climate.

He is wanted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court. He shouldn't be globetrotting. He should be arrested and put on trial.

If a city bans cars (or lets be real seriously restricts them) and doesn't figure out good public transit, its not a net positive for the vast majority of people, and its quite possibly not going to be a popular or lasting change.

This is really good news for Thames Water customers.
Predatory KKR was so bad they were nicknamed "Barbarians at the gate" in the US.
It is time the government stopped dithering and took Thames Water into public ownership. It's what 82% of the public wants.

its so funny how economists will be like noooo its not fair china keeps reinvesting its wealth back into its economies instead of giving it all to like 20 guys, thats cheating 😭
What if we took money from rich people and invested it back into research and infrastructure and our companies to compete with China instead of slashing taxes and cutting funding. That would be crazy right

Anyone, including the government, who chooses, say, to stop trans women using female toilets is doing so because they want to, not because they are forced to.
Former Supreme Court judge Lord Sumption explains why @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social has got it completely wrong when she says trans women must be placed in danger by using the men's toilets.

I admit it, I was too negative about the bare bones stations. Turns out people are just happy to have access to a rail service. It's almost like we should be building more rail infrastructure, not curtailing spending even on basic renewals.

You know, ignoring for a moment the absurdity of the "ninja swords" followup, the rise in knife crime maps pretty closely to the removal of youth clubs and other social & community spending during Tory austerity. If you were serious about reducing that crime, you would invest in those again.
