reading takes about TN-07 and it is increasingly clear to me that most of Centrist Twitter™ wants to do politics without politicians at all and believes that a sheet containing five rigorously tested bullet points would outperform pretty much any candidate

This is beyond horrific.

ICE is responsible for the well-being of people in immigration detention and it is failing that responsibility miserably. Mr. Ge’s loved ones and the American people need answers immediately. www.newsweek.com/ice-detainee...

Then you have nothing.
Reporter: What do you say to your colleagues who say this isn't a fight, this is a capitulation?

Shaheen: We have a guaranteed vote by a guaranteed date…

Reporter: There is no guarantee that this will become law.

Shaheen: There was never a guarantee that it would be become law.

If you take one glimpse at Jeffries this should be obvious, but Nancy Pelosi is one of the most effective Democrats of the last few decades and she was one of the very, very few to understood that the purpose of gaining political power was to actually use it.

I’ve seen a lot of coverage over a poll saying Dems are “too focused” on climate change and LGBTQ issue. But voters say the Republican Party is not focused enough on jobs and affordability — issues much more predictive of voting — and far too much on immigration.

Are Democrats "talking too much" about left-wing issues?
The data mostly do not justify the conclusions people are drawing

Looking at grad degrees again - considering research proposals and how to achieve answers (and apply and see where I could get in and what's possible). Wanting to make good on my desire to be a democracy scholar. Any advice #AcademicSky?

what ezra doesn't seem willing to accept is that charlie kirk was part of a political movement that does not think that "we are going to have to live here with each other" and is fact very interested in the elimination and/or subjugation of many, many people
"All I can say for me in the work I do is that I want to create a space that takes our disagreements seriously, that takes the stakes of them seriously, the consequences for people seriously, but does so without deepening our divisions irreparably. We are going to have to live here with each other"

this quote, if we take Ezra's defense of his previous column seriously, reduces to "Donald Trump is doing politics the right way."

"Much of what I would describe as Kirk's worst moments were now just standard fair MAGA Republicanism. And the leader of MAGA Republicanism is the President of the United States...we are going to have to live here with each other believing what we believe. Disagreeing in the ways we disagree."

Today in the Chicago area ICE shot & killed someone and threw Kat Abughazaleh candidate for Congress, on the ground.
We’re peacefully protesting for our neighbors. What does ICE do?

Pick us up and throw us on the ground. No arrest, no identification, no process.

Social media has long since been the problem, and the tech-bro-ification of the economy certainly adds to that. Since being politically conscious, Silicon Valley way it went from the new fad of, ostensibly, liberal democrats, to the biggest grifters of all.
THE PROBLEM IS SOCIAL MEDIA.

Social media rewards violent, hate-filled, even genocidal rhetoric.

This is how Charlie Kirk became a national political figure.

In the wake of his death, social media has become a place for tens of thousands of far-right extremists to call for mass violence.

Also, if Ezra Klein believed in politics defined by vigorous debate with your opponents, he could come here on Bluesky and confront critics who engage with his ideas.

But he won’t do that, because what he actually believes in is a politics where everyone worships Ezra Klein for his profundity.
