We get one precious life. One childhood. Forcing stress like this on children is abhorrent. Such cruelty just so a child might be more likely to score higher on a standardized test? Capital will pervert you into a child abuser.
So, a child was losing weight (the implication is the stress of the Alpha School's methods) so much so her pediatrician recommended additional snacks, and the School's untrained "guides" (who are not teachers) withheld those snacks from the child until "she met her learning metrics"?

The most utopian thing I can imagine at this point is a strictly segregated media environment of propaganda slop and the people who don't mind it (nobody likes it) and then an entirely separate economy of people who actually like reading, listening to music, watching films etc.

Similarly, knowing the plot of a film or show, aka “spoilers”, is not the same as the emotional journey of experiencing a well-told story in real time. Which is why I don’t really believe in spoilers. Storytelling is not a lore-delivery system. And what happens isn’t as important as how it happens.
There is something so fundamentally telling with people who think that “reading a book” and “knowing what the plot is” is the same experience.
You basically cannot.
