Thinking about the 1969 Piazza Fontana bombing and how Italy's security services blamed it on anarchists, arrested nearly 100 activists and threw one of them out the 4th floor window of the police station.

The bombing was carried out by a neo-fascist group with ties to the state security services.

I’m just gonna keep buying these while they’re on sale even though they will only sell me 4 a week. How many copies do you think I need to buy to fund a trip to Anchorage, @holz-bau.bsky.social ? At this rate every Anchorage Assembly member should have one by October.

A great thing about ebikes is that they turn non-cyclists into cyclists.
I think people have yet to wake up to just how amazing e-bikes are. I commute about 20 miles a day, using about 10 cents of electricity. (Mostly on safe trails.)
Every time I ride my brain is ecstatic. I get a workout, but don’t need to shower when I get to work.

Nyc alone has a population greater than the 9 least populous states. Senate malapportionment is bad!
Washington, D.C., has a population roughly equivalent to Alaska's.

And it has zero senators. If D.C. had senators, the GOP megablil bill would have failed today.

Instead, Murkowski got carve-outs and money for Alaska, and then voted to subject DC to the bill

Shocking to me this kind of thing was ever banned anywhere in zoning codes
We are already 66% leased, and we haven't finished construction yet!
There is definitely a market for stacked flats!

A State Dept. cable says the Trump administration might add up to 36 countries — most in Africa — to a list of 21 countries on which it imposed a full or partial travel ban this month. Citizens can't get visas to the US. Our @nytimes.com story: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/16/u...

And are they limiting it to busy wide roads that nobody wants to live on? No.

Are they asking for community design review approval? No.

Do they make them sit around for 5 years responding to frivolous permit comments before shovels hit the ground? No.

Maybe there’s more to this answer? Yes.

You were not meant to learn whatever the fuck setbacks or floorplates are

You are ONLY supposed to show up & say “make housing bigger & more abundant”, “make transit faster & more frequent”, & if they give you plannerspeak excuses your job is not to nod & understand because that’s how they get you
A bad process built with your tax dollars require neither your respect nor good faith

You are only one thing: a VOTER, not a hobbyist urban planner. The trap that The Good advocates keep falling into is they learn planning jargon in good faith in hopes that will drive change

It never does
The most critical thing I can point out is this: malicious compliance!

If a system or process is fundamentally broken, NIMBYs engage with it through a form of malicious compliance. Do-gooder YIMBYs engage with it earnestly & in good faith

But, results stack in favour of malicious compliance 🤷🏾‍♂️

Someday North America will get away from hyper-specific local plans that miss the forest for the trees trying to micromanage urbanization. But not today!
Ottawa is holding a Virtual Public Information Session to introduce the Baseline-Merivale Secondary Plan on June 25 from 6pm to 8pm. This Plan will help guide private development and public infrastructure investments in an area that is anticipated to see significant growth in the coming decades. 1/

in america, planners can force designers to make massive buildings look like little ones

but the effect is sh*t, in part because our building codes don't allow for large buildings to be made up of many smaller buildings.

we should be able to do this.
