SPD cruiser parked in a bus stop while officers attended a public meeting about safety in Capitol Hill parks. Was parked there with lights on for the entirety of the 90 minute meeting, and additional discussion after the meeting.

Does Seattle Parks know that Garfield Community Center is not in Capitol Hill, and is not very convenient to get to from Capitol Hill without a car? Especially if you live near one of the parks being discussed.

Sure feels like excluding people without cars is by design with this meeting.

This seems counter to the narrative they’ve been pushing, that only a Harrell administration will resist Trump.

It seems like the Harrell administration is quite comfortable in a Vichy-style collaboration with the Trump administration.

These thirty seconds show a scandal of unbelievable proportion and it might as well never have happened. Just sucked into the vacuum of history immediately. I can't dwell on it or I'll go crazy.
Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

NEW: After paying for hotel rooms to shelter homeless people, Seattle deliberately left them vacant.

By the end of 2024, taxpayers were spending $4,200 a month per empty room at a time when thousands of residents were without a roof over their heads.
Seattle Spent Millions on Hotel Rooms to Shelter Unhoused People. Then It Stopped Filling Them.
Early last year, the city signed a $2.7 million lease extension to continue using a hotel’s rooms as shelter space. Yet despite committing to pay the rent, the city stopped sending people there.

Last week, convention center expert Heywood Sanders wrote this about LA's expansion plan: "the likelihood of any significant increase in the city’s convention business is effectively nil."

So I called him up to talk me through his analysis — and what he told me makes LA's plan seem *even worse*
Why this convention center expert is calling LA's expansion plan a disaster
"If you think that somehow a bigger convention center is key to downtown revitalization, or is going to do wonders for local job creation, or economic development? The answer is, you've got to be kidd...

SDOT GAF about safe streets challenge
@seattledot.bsky.social You have a 24 hour response team, but I’m being told Tuesday for a fix. If this barrier was pushed into the vehicle lane, how long would you expect it to be restored?

PAX is in town this weekend, and there are thousands of people using this bike lane to get around Seattle.
